Multiroom phoneline installation query.

As it ls likely that I will only have Skysports this season due to the likely high prices of Setanta/ESPN I have decided to go multiroom to ensure I see all the sport I can even when others are watching X factor, living tv stuff,e4 etc ,you know what I mean! Previously had Setanta on separate box so was happy enough with that. My query relates to the phone line.

Basically, I have the main phone point downstairs and then another point in the main bedroom upstairs professionally installed by Eircom from a small junction box they put in the hotpress.A few years ago I ran a cable to the designated computer room for the internet from the junction box.Worked fine.
Then, got broadband early last year so to get it all working , ie phones, web etc I ended up needing an ADSL filter on the handset in the bedroom. The downstairs phone needs no filter.

It would suit me better to run the phone cable from the bedroom socket so before I do the cabling I want to make sure it will work.Basically ,if I run phone cable from the eircom socket in main bedroom upstairs(hard wired)to a new phone socket I got yesterday next to my two digiboxes(i use magic eyes and then connect the two digiboxes should it work without affecting the broadband and is it likely the two phone cables into the digiboxes will need ADSL filters.

If anyone has had the patience to read through this and can help I'd appreciate it.

    thanks!

It is always advisory to put a fitler betwwen the phone line and the digibox when you have a DSL line.
Sometimes you can get away without (different modems will put different noise levels on the line), but do it anyway to make sure. Best practice is one filter per device connected.

FWIW, you can get a wireless phone link from outlets such as Maplins that will save you running cables.

thanks. to be honest running the cable won't be too bad.wanted to know that it would work the way I was planning. at least then I'd avoid having to plug more things in.

Just in case though--I presume with one of those phone links you'd have to plug a base station in to one socket then the thing with the phone socket would also have to be plugged in? Just in case I have a change of plan does the phone socket you get take an adaptor as I have two digiboxes to feed.
    thanks

i got the phone line put in by them and it was causing problems with my broadband, so i disconnected it
they sent me letters telling me to reconnect it otherwise they would charge me for not having the phone attached
i reconnected it for a while and then took it off until i got another letter
i think after the 3rd letter they stopped and i haven't heard from them in the last 2 years about it

Interesting.Maybe after a while they just trust people! I haven't done anything yet or decided 100% to do it or not. This phone line crack whilst totally understandable is a bit of an inconvenience. I am one of those people who is 100% honest and will not be doing a cheap sky sub deal with anyone! Both boxes will be in my house all the time!

Just getting back to this multiroom again. I have kind of ditched the idea of running cables. Best routes are blocked by wooden flooring/coving etc and I don't want to go out and back in again drilling unnecessary holes in the gable end. More or less decided to go wireless. Can anyone give opinions on the DECT Wireless phoneline extender. e.g. do the units operate "hot" and use much power? Just wondering as they will be plugged in all the time. Are they good for what they are needed for, ie to keep Sky happy?

    thanks!
