Well i'm off the road again

For the last few weeks when i'm going over a speed bump or pot hole the engine management light comes on for a split second and the engine looses power but comes back to life, kinda been nursing the problem along.

Tonite, what was one of the biggest nites for a taxi driver with U2 and it being a Saturday nite the problem gets worse (fully konking out) so much so as the slightest dip or crease in the road knock the car out.

And last saturday nite week the fuel pump had a fit and knocked the immobliser on (didnt find that out till the monday after!!!)

Any ideas as to what could be causing it? A sensor of somesort?

It does sound like an electrical/fuel problem alright...

Did you replace your fuel pump with a new one? did this only start after the new one was fitted? if so i'd start looking around it...

If its not a fueling problem i'd be looking around the engine ECU (ground etc), connection to coils, sensor inputs...

You know yourself a code reader would definitely help, but i'm not sure what product would be able to read from a toyota of that vintage....

Loose connection somewhere on the ECU - check all connectors and locate the ECU in case its had a knock.

'Fuel pump took a fit and brought on the immobiliser?' Something fishy there - I'd say you have a more fundamental problem with your wiring loom.

Brought it to the mecanic, found out what was wrong.

He poked around at all the leads and found the lead that was causing the problem, the main lead under the fuse box.

Left it with him for 2 hours and he got it sorted (the block connector was frayed and damaged) he did the bizo €50 later and i'm back on the road!
