Just wondering is there the alot of interest in these kind of races. They attract a good standard of athlete and should we be discussing who do you fancy winning.

I see the 1500m A race has a good calibre racing
    Mark Hanrahan
    Sean Connolly
    Emmet Dunleavy
    etc

I think Sean will win this the guy seems to be in some great form

Linda Byrne and Aoife Brady are both racing in the mens B 1500

A few 800s taking place aswell, can't wait to see the womens 800, I've watched a few of the clonliffe girls training, becky Woods and Louise Reilly and they make it look so easy.

I'll be out there with my 5 year old, she wants to watch the long jump, I'll be there with the cammy aswell so watch out later for videos, practice for the nationals, if your out there say hello.

I reckon it will be close between him and Hanrahan with MArk maybe a bit sharper in terms of speed. I think sean will be eyeing this race as a tune up for the longer distances next week

Woddle = legend. How you managed to simultaneously film the race while keeping a 5 year old happy is beyond me - a man of many talents. Obviously you have a womans brain in that you can do more than 1 thing at once :)

My task was a tad easier - wallk around track and take photos, no camcorder or children to entertain.

I've loads more so if anyone wants photos of a particular race then holler at me - except the 3000m, they pretty much all turned out crap for some reason. I'm still trying to figure out how the damn camera works. I would love to know how these ones turned out better than previous attempts so I could replicate it at the next race!

Great stuff Woddle, would've popped out to this myself if I had've known:(

The IMC seems a great organisation and I think its great that races at that level are getting a bit more notice (that 800 race was brilliant:D).

Your camera work is getting better too, definite improvement on the Gradeds, you should peak nicely for the nationals next weekend.;)

It was a perfect race really by Kuppler. Legs gone for the last few strides, but the momentum carried him there. A metre shorter or longer and he was maybe out of the top 3, so got it just perfect. Happened to me once, albeit much slower, where I was well clear but with 5 metres to go the legs were bucking and I was sure I was going to just collapse on the track and everyone go past! The weirdest of feelings.

woddle, that's a great service you've provided with the filming, fair play to ya. The number of views they've gotten is impressive! And I have it on good authority that they've been viewd as far afield as Melbourne!!! (In Australia, not Cork...)

Woddle, great pictures and videos. Captures the atmosphere and theracking races very well.

Just to let you know that there was a long jump for the women at 7.00 where 4 girls jumped.

Ah no way, I saw them take the cover off, so I took this as my chance to bring her to the toilet and by the time we got back the cover was back on, did the girls just jump once?

I don't think you missed much, its just thrown in so that the meet is regarded a full track and field meet for permit/red tape reasons. Stupid really that it has to be done. The girls that jumped won't mind me saying that long jumping isn't really their strong point and your 5 year old might have been in with a shout:D

    Woddle

Yes 4 of the runners jumped but only teh once as they had all run and all had done PB's

    Tingle
It may be stupid but it is a requirement I think you know why. Lets just leave it at that and would prefer if no further comment were made on this issue. Thanks

We're getting off-topic, but can you explain why it is a requirement?
I organised a graded mile last Friday in Galway, and had to put on extra events just to fulfill permit requirements... but I don't know why...

While we're on the subject it's not required of the British Milers Club to put on field events and you have athletes achieving standards for International Championships at these races, yet it is required of the IMC?? Logic anyone:confused:

Don't want to take away from what was an excellent evening of athletics in Irishtown on Saturday. And free to watch! Hats off to the IMC for doing a great job.

I think you need a field event for it to be given a permit and be considered a proper track and field meet. Just red tape really. Not sure if its an IAAF or AAI requirement.
