    Hey guys..

I'm a bit confused over something...

I got myself a full time job in my field the other week and I start on monday.

I've been on the dole for about three weeks now, though Im confused as when you let the dole office know you need to be cut off.

Why?...well I assume that you dont tell them you need it cut off before you get your first months sallary payment surely?

If I tell them now, it will be a month before I get paid in my new job, I can hardly go a month without money, right?..or am I wrong?

Secondly, I collected my funds yesterday, but for some reason I got twice the amount...they said it was due to arrears?...I wasnt aware of any arrears that were incurred on my account...

any info would be appreciated :)

Tell them asap. If you become unemployed again, and go to sign on, they'll tell you that you got it for longer, and they'll subtract it from your next payments. You might need the few extra weeks next time more than now.

Notify them straight away of the date you're starting work. Unfortunately yes, the first month waiting for your pay cheque is tough, but you are not eligible for anything during that time.

You must inform them right away that you have found employment.

    Congratulations, btw :)
