Just watched this on Bluray, and though it was absolutely spectacular. Complete parody of/homage to the works of Sergio Leone, some incredible action sequences, and some of it had me roaring laughing, the dialogue was a bit ropey in places, but overall terrific. The big chase scene towards the end is amazing, worth seeing for that alone.

I'd say well worth a watch.

Love it ot bits, have the Blu Ray and it's recieved a number of watches. A truly fantastic film, at times it reminded me of Indiana Jones.

Yeah, I can definitely see that.

I'm not one to take any notice of the quotes they splatter on DVD sleeves, but on this it said "Everything the latest Indiana Jones should have been" and I gotta agree, the set pieces in this were so much better than any of the CGI nonsense in the last Indy.

I read that on the case when I picked it up and couldn't agree more. The alck of CGI heavy action scenes was refreshing.

I thought this was brilliant. And there's loads of CGI in it, but it's done so well that it blends perfectly into the film as in it compliments the action instead of replacing it (I'm looking at you George Lucas!!!!).

I felt the ending was a bit anti-climactic, and felt the "Good" character wasn't explored as much as he should of been, but it's a great little film and one of the best Westerns I've seen in a long time.

Love this movie, wish I'd bothered to see it when it was showing in the cinema.

Some very obvious "homages" to the Dollars westerns, or almost identical scenes depending on your wiewpoint, but when it's done with such an obvious affection for the genre, who can complain?

And the musical score was *brilliant*. Absolutely wonderful. Evoked classic Morrione, but with a slightly modern twist.

Director Kim Ji Woon really has no problem with switching genre - it's hard to believe this is the same guy also directed A Bittersweet Life and A Tale of Two Sisters.

A sound investment if ever there was one.

Enjoying the film and then that brilliant and ludicrous chase sequence in the desert happened. Then I absolutely loved it.

    By the same director as this;

A Tale of Two Sisters - psychological horror movie.
A Bittersweet Life - gangster sort of tale.

    Then:
Oldboy - gets a lot of recommendations here, and for a reason. It's a must see. If you like it then the others in the "Vengeance" trilogy. (Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, and Lady Vengeance)

Tae Guk Gi (Brotherhood of War)- epic Korean war movie.

JSA: Joint Security Area - though it gets panned a bit sometimes, I think it's good, maybe it relies a bit too much on sentimentality.

Friend (Chingu/Chingoo) - Follows four friends as they grow up, and the different paths their lives take, and how they interact.

My Sassy Girl - I like it, it's a rom com though, maybe not what you're looking for.

Sex is Zero - if you're in the mood for some...slightly uneven...Korean style "American Pie". Except it's not really...be warned, there's a fairly out there abortion scene.

If you really want to see a bad Korean movie, check out D-War (or Dragon Wars depending on the release.).

Some of the names are translated a little differently depending on the source.

Edit: sorry, didn't notice you've already seen Brotherhood

Thats a great way of describing the scene in sex is zero if its the one I'm thinking of..
    breakfast man egg?
    :D

D-war was a mix between an american and korean film, cgi was korean ....terrible film, avoid.

Check out also memories of murder, rough cut, sissilly 2k (very funny), king and the clown and chaser which I thought was superb. This forum has mentioned piles of korean films before.

The three main actors from the good, the bad the weird are fairly huge in korean cinema so it was a bit of a star studded blockbuster. I must watch it again but I remember liking it but not being as overwhelmed as a lot of posters seem to have been by it.

:D not referring specifically to that, just the film is weirdly unbalanced with some of the serious stuff mixed with what you've just mentioned. Not mixed, literally, that would be horrendous!!

There was a haiku review that sums it up nicely:

    Script by teenager
    Then translated by google
    No other excuse
