    Hi all,

Need a bit of information and a bit of direction.

I'm interested in doing a sport & recreation management (and also sport & recreation on it's own) in CSN in Cork city. Link

Long story short, I used to be very overweight and unhealthy, turned myself around and worked through a few health and medical problems and lost a load of weight and made myself into a healthy and fit person. I understand how permanent changes can take time and I am not afraid to put in a lot of work to change myself or learn something new.

I'm wondering what to expect from a course like the one I linked. I am a healthy person and I am very active though I know I am not as fit as some of the instructors in my local gym.
I would like to be very fit, regardless of whether I do the course or not.
I would like to know if fitness is something I can work on within the course so I get to be very fit or do I need to be starting the course with a very high level of fitness.
I have a very positive attitude towards exercise, fitness, nutrition and health. I know that certain canons are universal regards exercise and health and I also know that not all people are the same in their approach and ability. I feel that I would make a good fitness instructor and I think I would be able to draw on my own experience and, hopefully, some day my expertise in working with people. I love food and I love exercising, often ending up at odds with each other :P

Is this sort of qualification a typical type of qualification to start out in the industry or do most people go to college or pursue another route?

Below are my statistics and a sample week for me.

    Age: 23
    Height: 6'2"
    Mass: 203lbs/92kg (previously 320lbs/145kg)
    Waist: 34" (previously 50")
BF %: I do not know, I've never had it measured.

I'm not a bodybuilder/bulky type, I don't eat to gain mass. I have broad shoulders. I walk to anywhere I need to go if it's in Cork city and I do this every day, generally 5-6km at a good pace. If I go for a dedicated walk I'd always do 10km minimum, again at a good pace. I also go and practice soccer with a guy I play with to improve my technique etc and learn new ways to play, this is generally relaxed but I build up a sweat and it's always for more than an hour.

Monday: Gym work - warmup, chest, triceps, abs or core, shadow work for MA + bagwork, warm down. Walking during the day or in the evening

    Tuesday: Martial arts (2-2.5 hours)

Wednesday: Day off, though I would still walk a lot.

Thursday: Gym work: warmup, back, biceps, abs or core, hamstrings, shadow for MA + bagwork, warmdown

Friday: 5/6 a side soccer (1-1.5 hours), more walking

Saturday: Gym - warmup, deadlifts, squats, and maybe some leg work, warmdown. More walking.

    Sunday: Day off. More walking.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Thanks :)

You lost 120lbs? That's fantastic, well done!

Have you checked out www.ntc.ie? They do courses in the Mardyke arena in Cork, could be just what you're looking for...
