I finally got my act in gear and started losing weight starting about 6 weeks ago. The only blip was the week I did two ironman races where weight loss stalled (could have been fluid retention in damaged muscles according to a physiologist friend) but otherwise I've been losing about 1 kg per week. I've been using fitday and hitting pretty much all my nutritional goals (doing a lot of exercise means I can still eat a lot of food and hit a deficit of calories) except vitamin D. I'm not so worried about the vit D at this time of year when I'm outdoors a lot.

The only problem is I'm exhausted all the time which isn't much fun. I was just wondering if this is normal when losing weight, will it normalise when I hit my target weight (still a good bit to go)?

Maybe you are hitting too much of a deficit? If you are losing 1kg a week, that's a deficit of about 1,100 a day I think, and with the amount of training you do I can understand how wrecked you must be! I probably hit the gym 4 - 5 times a week (trivial compared to yourself! :pac:) and usually try to aime for a few hundred calories of a deficit, and usually don't feel too bad at all :)

Maybe try cutting your deficit a bit (is that a double negative? lol ) to something like 500 a day and seeing if you feel any better. I don't know much about these things but I know from reading some of your other posts you really do train a lot and if I were in your position I would probably try to make sure I fuelled that as much as possible even if it means taking a bit longer to lose the weight. It might be a better strategy in the long run.

I'm glad you started this thread HM I was going to start a similar one myself. I like to think myself fairly clued up on diet and nutrition(I do have a diploma in it after all although that doesn't say much) but it's a bit harder to critique your own diet than it is to sort out someone else which is why I started a food diary on here aswell as letting me see how little/much I eat.

I've been suffering quite a lot with lack of energy over the last few weeks and in turn my training has suffered which isn't ideal. I've come to the conclusion that I'm eather eating way too little or eating all the wrong types of foods.
