    Hi

Bringing the bike to Clare this weekend, this is the rough route I was thinking of.

Any comments or other route suggestions from anybody who knows the area / rode the Tour de Burren? Was planning to go clockwise so as to get in Corkscrew hill, and looking for something around 80-100km. Start/finish probably Doolin, but fairly flexible on that.

    Thanks

    Where abouts are you staying?

I go down to Ballyvaughan every now and again. I've only done a few cycles and they weren't very far. If I was heading from Ballyvaughan I'd head towards the Corkscrew Hill on towards Lisdoonvara and then The Cliffs of Moher. Heading back I'd try go by Fanore as the coast road is a beautiful cycle.

    Thanks Velo.

Yep, that's more-or-less the route I was thinking. I drive around the Burren fairly often but have never cycled, so although I know the roads, I don't know them from a cyclist's point of view. Probably staying in Doolin but fairly flexible - it's a have tent/have car/have bike job!

Your route is alot of the ToB so I can highly recommend it.

That is a lovely route OK. I have done it many times as I visit there often. If you are finishing in Doolin, save a little for the drag between Liscannor and Cliffs of Moher. Surface on coast road between Doolin and Ballyvaughan is rough on a road bike but lovely on a hybrid. As I prefer to use my hybrid now I take more link roads and find it more interesting eg: At top of Corkscrew take next left towards Cohy and Kilfenora to bypass N67. If you have some spare time and want a challenge try the castle road out of Doolin (First right after bridge) and go all the way up to the telecoms mast. (For me the Mont Ventoux of Co Clare).
