Blisters..

    Ok I bought two new pairs of runners lately, one cheap the other 80 euro reduced from 120, nike. Both give me blisters on the inside of my foot on the arch. The dearer pair not as much but still uncomfortable, anything I can do to stop it?

    All you can do other than buy new runners is wear a compeed blister plaster or put some strapping over the area where you get the blisters. What sort of socks do you wear?

    I think I rem HM saying that blisters are caused by heat / friction / moisture so eliminate those and you eliminate blisters. Better socks maybe (technical rather than cotton). Also changing how you lace (or even how tightly you lace) your trainers can stop them rubbing. Without a doubt good fitting trainers will do the most for you though.

    IMO cheap trainers are never a bargain - you only get one set of feet & legs, you might as well look after them

    Keeping the feet as dry as possible helps for me definitely but it's not always practical in our climate.

    As weird as this may sound but something I've learnt recently is to moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!!

    Every night before bed I smother my feet in a good layer of vaseline (petroleum jelly). After you get bad blistering it can heal into hardened, dry areas of skin and getting a blister under that is no fun. Keeping the feet as well moisturised as possible seems to help the healing process and lessen chances of recurrence in that area.

    It might not make for the most alluring of bed time routines but it has helped me recently.

    I use to be prone to blisters when on my LSR, but I now use bodyglide and no more blister issues.

    +1 on the socks, decent running ones verses pennys best (which what i wear the rest of the time) - definately worth the investment for blister free days :)

    Sometimes all you can do is wait for the feet to toughen up.
    I get blisters int he same location, but after a year I get them and they don't hurt.
    Rubbing alcohol is supposed to be very good.
    I've seen some godawful pictures of Hunnymonster's feet after MDS, she'd probably have more advice.
