Anyone know of any Dunnes Stores hiring at the moment or in the future? Or any other supermarkets around Dublin that need staff?
Reason I'm asking is i worked in Dunnes before so its the only place i really have a chance of getting a job.:(

Massively understaffed, hours in bits, loads of people leaving and not replaced...BUT they hired a few last week for the first time in several months. Always worth a shot, clearly it got too understaffed even for them. They no longer advertise vacancies though.

    They're definitely not hiring managers.

This is what I would do:

I would go into a store and get chatting with someone who works there. Find out who is the best person to talk to about getting a job there, what they look for (e.g. should you be super clean cut), etc.

Then use that information to target the right person with a perfectly written CV, and in person, if possible.

Basically, you need to do whatever it takes to give yourself an edge and stand out somewhat from the million people who are also handing in their CV.

A couple of years back a Dunnes Stores "interview" was just to check you didn't have two heads. Be interesting if they give proper interviews now. What store have you got an interview for?

Grand well I don't have two heads, but I have 4 eyes.:D Have it for Georges St, they were hiring a few weeks back only, but my mate works in there for a couple years now and he sorted it for me.

What do you mean two heads - we, males have 2 heads...do you mean they hire only females ?;)))))

It was still a joke 2 years ago, day after my debs, forgot to put the numbers for references on my CV..5 minute job...'are you in college..what evenings can you work'. The induction is a right laugh, box lifting and lots of crappy 80's supermarket videos 'John didn't come home from work that day. He fell off the vending machine' etc..even if you're drapery.

Your best bet is to put it at the customer service desk, since these are the ones that are DEFINITELY sent down to personnel. Say whether you want part-time or flexi and don't say 'I really need this job' really aggressively or else go on and on about it since it night end up in the bin then. Having a chat with staff is a bit time-wasting (since we're understaffed and really busy!)unless you know them, and even then fruitless since staff are not told 'oh we're hiring'.

A Dunnes requirement is that their staff are clean shaved at all times, so don't go in looking scruffy or with any facial hair at all really.
