    No Way!!! F***ing cool.

Minimum requirements to install all applications:

Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of RAM (2GB or more highly recommended)
Display with 1280-by-800 or higher resolution
Mac OS X v10.5.7 or later
    QuickTime 7.6 or later
    DVD drive for installation
PCI Express, ExpressCard/34, USB or FireWire-based audio interface recommended

Good news for Intel people.. Everyone else.. Bummer :(

One week after I finally cave and order the Upgrade from Express 8 to Pro.
I've called them and told them I'm mightily unimpressed that the I've spent the same money on a now out-of-date version, and that I'd have happily waited a week if I'd known it was coming out.

Just got a call back from them as I was typing this.
They're gonna take a return and give me a full refund so I can order the new version.
    Very good service.

    Thats a cool story..

Think it'll be a while before I upgrade. I'm still on 10.4.xx so I'd have to upgrade both the OS & Logic.

I'll definitely wait until after Snow Leopard comes out & the majority of bugs are ironed out.

Besides.. I rather wait until all my favourite plugs have all been updated too.

Well if its anything like Logic 8 it will be crawling with all sorts of bugs. It will be a good 6 months before they release an update to fix it. Still -I'm looking forward to it !

Just been talking to my man on the inside who describes it as a ' Bug Fix' and 'Boring' ! :D

From looking around.. the general concensus looks to be that its a consilidation to bring it more up to par with PT rather than a leap forward. I've never used PT - So that opinion could be a load of S****.

All the leaks & rumors of the new features look to have been spot on. Shame that there was no extra "big surprise". They've prossibly been concentrating more on the background mechanics in the lead up to Snow Leopard.. so maybe thats why they didnt reinvent the wheel this time ;)

I'd have settled for the removal of the "click" on the Logic synths - Drives me mad removing it each time :)

The number 9 took forever to come. Looks interesting though. Lots of unhappy people over on Logic Pro Help, they think Apple pulled a fast one and should have fixed the bugs on 8 before moving on to 9.

I will upgrade to 9 before the year is out (or 10 if your prediction is correct :))

David from Logicprohelp already has a new book in the works on using Logic 9.

He must have better contacts than Paul:D

Looks good. Certainly more than a bug fix although I do think it should have been 8.2 rather than 9. Elastic audio looks great. bounce plugins on a region looks good too.
I will have my education copy on Monday and will report on it next week.
On the down side I will now have to recertify in LP9 and STP3.

    Edit: User Manual

Disclaimer - As I said in the post.. I've absolutely no experience whatsoever of PT & its totally other people's opinions that I've written about.. :)

From what I can understand.. some people personal preference is that they find PT a better tool for mixing / working with Audio. But I aint got a clue Mate.. Never used PT.

"They" have also said that the new features bring the 2 programs closer together. (or in our case - Closer to Logic! :pac:)

Speaking from my own POV - I've been looking for Logic all my adult life & would never change.. I'd certainly be able to say that its in a different league to anything I have ever used before.

Hopefully they havent got rid of Audio engine error (-10011) bug.

    I love that little Fella!!

    :pac:

The website makes a point of new features to mainstage for live performance. I've never used Logic for this but had intended to soon for some electro-pop live stuff I'm working on. Anybody au fait enough with mainstage to comment on the upgrades and changes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭SeanHurley

Rewire support in Mainstage is pretty cool, although would have been cooler if they had gone the whole way and supported full external midi in MS.

PMI may be the man to help you there.

They've done away with the manual apparently.

Saw a picture of what the box contains & its just Disks & a couple of white paper "getting started" pamphlets now.

Pity - But at least future Ebay Bargains wont put people off with the crazy postage fees.

Bit of a disaster though not having a reference.

Dont think you can order them either. Miserable. I hate printing out manuals from a .pdf. Never the same as a little book.

    LOL

He's probably had access to Logic 9 for months, perks of the job I suppose.
