It's a known issue with the iPhone 3GS and Firmware 3.0 (Link)

Apple will have an update out soon that resolves the issue (version 3.0.1).

Ahh crap..mine is sofware unlocked..does that mean i cant update, and just have to put up with it?

Just to note, this update also blocks tethering...

Just wait until the update is out. There is a baseband update in 3.0.1 but the Dev Team are always working on getting around this and it's even faster now with the competition from Purplerain.

ok thanks. Do the dev team crack all apple updates or is it just the major ones such as 3.0 that they concentrate on?

No they work on all of them (because iTunes practically forces the update / baseband updates). So if yours is unlocked, you f**ked :)

wasnt aware of this...so lets say 3.01 update was released midnight tonight...then i sync my iphone with itunes tomorrow...is 3.01 automatically downloaded to my phone(causing it to re-lock) or do i get a pop up asking if I would like to update, with the option to click 'no'?

    Thanks.

Key word, practically. It's a popup. Most run of the mill iPhone users will just update straight away when they see this because we all know update must mean new and faster things but forgetting that their iPhone is jailbroken or unlocked :)

    phew:D

one last thing...if i dont update, do i have to deal with this pop up every time i sync, or is there a box to click 'do not as again'?

    thank for all the info.
