Official reveal is Aug 16th or so, other than that GW appear to have to have kept this one fairly locked down.

There's a few rumours going around about the box. So far many people think it's the space hulk re-release. It's not too long now if it's announced/released in Auguest.

    Some of the rumours are

-It is a completely stand alone set that is not related to any race.

-It is something that GW has never done before.

-Some local stores are only getting one shipment; when that sells out it will no longer be available.

-You can't advance order it. You have to be there on the day to get it.

    -It is not Planetary Empires.

    -It is a board game.

-Likely to be 40K related, but not definitely confirmed.

    i would say its space hulk from what i hear (from a friend(from a friend(from a friend)))

    I'd say it's space hulk (from a friend...who's a manager)

Inside lines, friends of friends and managers I pay no heed to.

But in all fairness, it's probably Space Hulk.

yeah, i've seen this list of rumours around the place but does it have any sort of official basis? have GW said anything official about this? even announcing that it exists?

The closest to an offical announcement is

    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4nzgPbHlNo4/SlAwtPwD5KI/AAAAAAAAFZ8/IMlS-_BBNjU/s1600-h/GD-GERMANY-09.jpg
from a poster for the upcoming Gamesday-Germany which announces a "bomb being dropped" at the event.

The rest is rumour and whispers!

i'm torn between scepticism and being very, very interested. it's so unlike normal GW methods where they hint at stuff months in advance. so either it's bull or it really is something new and different. or space hulk, which would still be very cool

    My common sense are tingling

It seems that BoLS is pretty confident that the mystery box is Space Hulk with terrain, Terminators, Genestealers and 2 metal miniatures.

They've said that GW have started pre-orders for retail shops.

i was in a GW recently (not in ireland, am out of the country at the mo) and quizzed one of the staff. he either seemed to know a bit about it or at least was pretending to. he volunteered that it'll be 40k related and didn't disagree when i said it was probably space hulk. he also said "put it this way, it's not gonna be a gorkamorka relaunch". which, by the way, is a pity; gorkamorka was awesome.

Yeah, most likely Space Hulk, fits the "all in one box" and limited run for us fanboys model well. I will pick up a copy (if I can find one), not too interested in the big 3 but a self contained boardgame intrigues me.

And GorkaMorka was awesome. And with the rulebooks free to download and tons of shiny Ork plastics out over the past year (new trukks, AoBR plastics, rumoured new traks and killa kans end of the year) its a good time to get a game running.

Lads i have to say i for one am not convinced its Space Hulk (though i'm hoping it is). I personally think its a game only some will remember... 'Adeptus Titanicus' For those of you who don't know it was a game dedicated to combat between titan legions in the Horus Heresy which would tie in with the Horus Heresy novels i imagine (i haven't read them). Still, the waiting will be over soon enough though. If its Space Hulk the hopefully GW won't do something as stupid release it as a limited run. I'd hate to think of people getting several copies & then seeing them on ebay for ridiculous prices.

Ok so i stand corrected, it is Space Hulk, when will Gamersworld be ordering in copies? Is it preorder? Release date? Price? Apparently its to be limited edition i.e. when it sells out thats it. Don't want to look on ebay & see it there for 3 times the shop price. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Official GW page here. Looks nice, the Blood Angel termies are gorgeous, plus the stealers look snazzy too. Pity about the boards not being the rumoured plastics, but can cut up some Cities of Death terrain or Warhammer movement trays to make some more durable stuff (cardboard bends and tears too easy for me).

Pre-orders are available now (dunno if only from webstore or in GW shops too). Release is Sept 5th, price looks to be €80 (from what I have heard).

Interesting that none of the minis are on normal bases though. Everyone seemed to just expect reruns of the AoBR termies and Macragge stealers.

The termies are seriously sexy, not too sure about the stealers though. Might get this at some point, but not good much time these days for painting 35 mini's....

At least they come somewhat coloured. They shouldn't need much painting, just the details really,.. if the paint sticks :)

What's the price in gamersworld compared to GW? Or is it going to be same everywhere?

75 in Gamers World, 78 in GW

I'm kind of torn on whether to get it or not. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,308 ✭✭✭quozl

It's really high quality, I'm impressed. Very detailed minis, in hard plastic, and thick glossy cardboard board/chits.

I wont be buying it though, I buy enough board-games, and this is one i know the 40K players will buy, so I don't have to :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,742 ✭✭✭Branoic

So, anyone pick this up yet? Worth it?

Picked this up yesterday and love it - excellent quality, but I've a question on the rules.

I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding the flamer's area of effect rules. Could someone explain this to me?

The rule book saying something like the flamer shot affects the "entire" area or section, except where there are closed doors. Its clear enough when its fired into a room that I think you're meant to take it that the whole room is hit and any model in the room is dead on a roll of 2+ - even though the flame marker itself barely covers a couple of tiles. Is this right - the whole room is considered hit?

But what happens when you fire in a corridor? Is the whole lenght of the corridor hit? That could potentially run the length of the map if there were no doors. Or is it just tiles the flame marker touches?

Oh, and while I think about it - a second question. I know that the genestealers don't pay any APs to turn 90 degrees as part of a move. So for the space marine player looking to turn a corner in the most effective way, for example, is it two APs? One to move diagonally around the corner, and then one to fix the direction of the model so that it's facing the right way down the new corridor?

Well purely looking at the physical models it is worth it. For 78 in GW you get 12 individual and detailed terminators PLUS 22 individually posed genestealers with a broodlord.

Even to use in your current army you would need to spent EUR70 in GW to get 10 normal termies plus EUR15 for a librarian in TDA.

It should be easy to put them on a normal round base. use magnets if you want to have them interchangeable. I'm planning on doing this as my DIY uses Tear icons so the Blood drops will fit in more or less!

On top of that you get the 3 objective markers, and a brand a new game!

    Wait, wut?

Are they metal minis? The magnet comment is confuzzling meh. :o

They're plastic. The magnets in question are usually small rare-earth magnets embedded in the mini and the base.
