    Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new bass and I was wondering which do you think is better:

The Ibanez sr500 or the sr520, alt if you can recommend some good basses with the same look and feel as these please feel free to let me know :-)

Also I usually purchase my stuff online, any good (cheap) shops in Dublin City that you can recommend.

    p.s:

    I play a array of music types / style...if that matters :-D

The main characteristic of the SR series is the thin neck. I have an SR700 and find it really suits me perfectly.

The only difference between the current 500 and the 520 is the wood used for the neck. The 500 uses jatoba/bubinga laminations whereas the 520 uses the same maple/rosewood laminations found on the SR300. Everything else: Bridge, electronics, body wood etc is the same.

    Xmusic stock Ibanez.

I think Xmusic have them, and they have the price match for another week or so I think. I bought a Cort Artisan B4 from Xmusic the other week and it's brilliant. They matched Thomann's price no bother. It's one to look at if you're out there trying out the basses

    Thanks for the reply guys,

This maybe a stupid question but what difference can you notice with different woods used?

Is there anywhere in town (dublin), that would stock these. I've played the SR500 before and it was a dream but I'd like to try it again before making any purchase.

Squirrel, thats a nice bass! again I'd like to find a shop to play it first though.

Anyone else feel free to throw your two cents in on what bass to go for if you want to.

    Cheers ,
    Guys

Given that these basses have the same neck dimensions, finger board, frets, body material, bridge, preamps and tone controls, I'd say you would want a very good ear to tell the difference !
