Nice little read from Runner's World on preparing yourself mentally for a race.

Anyone here have any tips, techniques, superstitions?
I personally always go through the same routine of warm up, stretches, tiger balm, nose plaster, strides, helps get me in the right frame of mind.

I usually do the same things myself in regards to warm up. Like to keep to myself and warmup alone if possible. If anyone askes me how i'm feeling the answer is always great :) even if i'm not 100% .. Try to talk myself into it...

I play Joe Espostio's You're the best that featured in the 1980's hit, the Karate Kid on repeat for the whole day and right up to the time im told to get behind my blocks.

For breakfast I always eat a toasted peanut butter and jam sandwich and a pint of chocolate milk, accompanied by an assorted range of vitamin tablets.

And i always put my shorts on backwards in the morning until exactly 22 minutes and 49 seconds before my race i turn them around.

Whatever you decide to do to get you in the zone on race day, remember that you are not the only one racing and respect other competitors and don't let you race day routine negatively impact others.
