Credit Card Abroad

    I have neard that putting money on my credit card and then using it as a debit card is the best was to get money abroad. Is this true or will i be hit with charges?

    It varies from bank to bank and card to card. Also, should the card be stolen/ripped off and the money taken off it that you've put on it, you won't be able to claim that back generally.

    Whatever method you use, ring your card company before you go and let them know you're travelling. Avoids them thinking sudden spending sprees in wherever your going are fraudulent.

    I'd avoid pre-loading cash onto the card because as said above if it's stolen or used fraudulently and you've a credit balance you're not covered in most cases.

    Use online or telephone banking to transfer money from your current account whilst away if you're nearing your limit. I know with my bank
    I can set up payments/transfers between current account and credit card for future dates.
