It was a dual ring gas jobbie. a Landmann.
just bring it back for a refund.
    No receipt neccessary.
some issue with gas connection wearing quickly and leaking etc.
it was €80 at the time.

Calor Gas are very coy about it, but you should have been given a "Cylinder Service Registration form" when you bought the first cylinder. That allows you to get a refund, which decreases with age (over 5 years or something), if you hand back the cylinder. That facility came in a few years ago. It really annoys me to get screwed for an empty cylinder and then to get nothing for it when I hand it back - of course their argument is that they maintain and service the cylinders for you....... The usual story you will get is that Calor own it .... but I'll bet if there was an explosion you'd find that YOU did....

But try to find any information on this online? They really don't want you to know.

For anybody who finds they need an empty Butane or Propane cylinder I would recommend you visit your local council dump - they will have a cage full of various ones and seem to have no problem with letting you take whatever you want (they get nothing from Calor or FloGas for them either). I even picked up a full, unused patio one!
