This is a current opportunity, Whyner, so not sure what you mean by 'so last year'. I spoke to the company and the 18 hole play off is booked at Celtic Manor in November - get your application in before then.

Of course, if the job's not good enough for you...

I was referring to your similar trip around Ireland last year. I'm not articulate enough, they're all "deadly"

Even if u get by the written part u still have to be a **** hot golfer right!?. Why does the winner have to be the best player of the 18?..... OK I know a 28 handicapper might not be a great judge but I don't believe the winner needs to be a scratch golfer!. I was mad keen to enter until I read that bit. I'm a 17 but I stilll think I know a bit about golf courses!.

Ah-ha, I got you now - I thought you were suggesting it was an out-of-date promotion (like the Australian island caretaker thing - how dull that must be with no golf course).

Yea, I agree with you completely. I'm guessing that they they don't want a high handicapper turning up to represent them and then he/she fails to nail a drive 300 yards down the middle.

who ever it is that gets the job, someone should contact them to post up here about the courses they play or find out if they do the blog tingy that you did kevin.
It would be a good old read as they tour the world playing a multitude of courses.
