Hi all, my daily driver will probably die in a few years without some major work. The car needs bodywork - both doors hang wrong - one due to rust near the lower hinge. Various other pieces of body rot. A complete new interior. The car seems mechanically solid but probably a few unknown horrors.

Any recommendatons in the Cork area? - I am Fermoy.

Sounds nasty,if the lower hinges are shot the heater channels are probably gone too?Nice bit of work in doing that properly.

Yes, the car was 'restored' dreadfully a few years ago. It has got to the position where it would be cheaper to buy a good solid car. Unfortunately I have got a little attached and want to keep it alive.

If the lower A Pillars are gone (floating hinges) there is also the chance that the front bulkhead is rotten and parts of the floor pan and heater tubes. Its worth having an expert look at it first and give you advice to the extent of the job needed. Might be worth taking a spin across to Martin Murry in Tip for a quote 087 2592448

There are plenty of local back street cowboys out there that would do a quick patch up job on it and then fill it with pon and spray it up again.

    Thanks Run,

That's what what I am looking for - someone who will give an honest assessment. The cars previous owner payed good money for what can only be described as a shocking job,

If the car has to die - it has to. I would love to keep her going.

Try Rigneys near Midleton. Top quality work but don't expect it done quickly as they're always busy.

Might be too far you but Tom Roberts in Sligo and KrazyKombis in Kilkenny both specialise in VW work.

Martin doesn't do welding but will possibly have anything else you might need to keep your car on the road.
