    Trailer

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPgZcW8MCaA
Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is the executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company, Colden Books, who forces her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada. He grudgingly accepts, under the condition that he is promoted to the position of editor. When the government investigates, the two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska in order to sell the lie...................

Seen a preview screening of this and i admit i highly enjoyed it. Yes its a romantic comedy aka chick flick but it works well and Bullock and Reynolds have great chemistry. Golden Girl Betty White stole the show for me.

Reynolds is hot and is nekkid in one scene with Bullock :D (oh yes guys she also gets nekkid)

Wouldnt by my cup of tea in any shape or form.

I cant Bullock. She is an awful actor and she has this Steven Seagal look about her. I cant take her serious in a role. When i watch her, is like watching someone trying to act at a Saturday morning children's drama workshop.

Seriously does another film like this need to made?

I don't see why people attack these films, remember that their target audience is the one group of society who have proven time and time again that they can only follow even the most simplistic of plots. Have you ever tried to watch a proper film with a female, every five minutes, "Is that the cop or the killer?"

With THe Proposal and other rom coms they don't even have to pay attention. There are only 2 plots.

    1. Boy meets girl, they fall in love. Boy or girl does something to endanger the relationship, they split up before later realising that they really do love one another. Cue a last minute race to meet up generally ending in an airport or wedding.

    2. Boy meets girl, boy hates girl but a zany plot point involves them spending time together. This hatred soon blossums into true love but fate intervens and they find themselves seperated, cue a last minute dash to meet up generally involving an airport or wedding.

I'd prefer if someone would slap Gerard Butler. For God sake man your'e King Leonidas, have some self respect.

His enxt film Gamer looks fantastic but starring in trash like The Ugly Truth and PS I Love You is seriously hurting his image as an action star.

I don't think it harms him a bit. Gamer looks like a Jason Statham movie to me and will probably flop so he's wise to appeal to male and female demographics in his roles

First of all if you rag on JS again i'll kill you where you stand :pac:

Second, I rather like the look of Gamer. think it has a modern day running man look to it. Time will tell.

Only reason I'm gonna go see this film...:D I even found him hot when he was deadpole or whatever that character name was in Wolverine...

I was heartbroken when he married that Johanssen one (I know I've probably spelt her surname wrong!) Thought my original plan was on track when he broke up with Alanis Morrissette (also probably spelt incorrectly)

He is not going to be very hot, or much use, if he is "Deadpole" now is he?

He was still alive!! Just a strange face with no mouth... and no hair... still a hot bod though!!

    I love Ryan Reynold's eyes....

Not quite what I was talking about, if he was a guy called dead-pole ;)

    Anyhoo, character's name is Deadpool

Have you ever tried to watch a proper film with a female, every five minutes "Is that the cop or the killer?"

Dude - you're watching films with the wrong sort of females.

    Don't forget Plot Line 3:

Boy dates 'Homely' Girl for a bet. Boy has 'Glamorous' Bitch Girl after him at the same time. 'Homely' Girl turns out to be hot when she lets down her hair/stops wearing dungarees. Boy falls for Formerly-Homely-But-Now-Hot Girl. Bitch Girl ruins everything somehow. They fall apart. In the end Boy does something insipid and Formerly-Homely-But-Now-Hot Girl abandons everything that made her unique in the first place and becomes as bland as Bitch Girl and gets back together with Boy.

They all live happily ever after (except Bitch Girl).

    The End.

My gf is fien for watching films with, God bless her she'll watch anythign I want including monster movies and never once does she need help following the plot. Most women however have a terrible time watching a film.

True but it's pretty much the exact same as plot 2. If we let them think there's the possibility of another type of rom com plot then were pretty mcuh screwed/

That better not be a snide attack on the Statham. The man has proven that he can salvage even the most dreadful of films. And come on any one who stars in a film as insnae as Crank deserves respect.

Don't forget the glasses. Homely people (boys or girls) always wear glasses, and dropping them is part of the process of "becoming beautiful".

In Hollywood, when you're beautiful, you don't need to, like, see anything any more. (If you're thinking contact lenses are the solution - no, they don't work for everyone.)

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Going a bit back on-topic, seen this on friday and its suprisingly enjoyable. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but Reynolds is as great as ever and every film needs a bit more Betty White. Even Tarantino complimented it on Jonathan Ross last week so people need to get off their high horse a little

I didn't see him salvage Transporter 3, that was THE worst film ever made.

Seen it last night with the gf.. Not bad. And I hate me them rom-coms. Was funny in parts, Bullock was looking well, it didn't hurt my brain, and Reynolds is decent and funny enough. Good chemistry with the 2 leads. Betty White was funny aswell.

At least Matthew McConaughey wasn't in it.

I can't remember the exact quote but he brought up that Bullock was on the show a few weeks ago and that he'd found The Proposal really funny. Ross was asking him if he kicks back with any reality tv or movies

Transporter 3 is great fun. I even took my gf to it on our 3rd or 4th date and even she enjoyed it, though she may have lied. She's not the biggest Statham fan but her friends bf does know him so that makes up for it. :D

I really enjoyed this I have to say! (and not just for the fact Ryan gets naked...although it did play a part :D)

I thought it was really funny, especially the bit when it looked like
she was having fun with the dog spinning it around, when in reality she was offering it to the bird in exchange for her phone :D

It was a great rom-com....but I'm surprised at whoever said Ryan and Sandra had great chemistry....they really don't go together!

The recent trend for Judd Apatow-style movies (i know he's not directly involved in them all, but you know what I mean!) could be seen as guilty of creating an equally braindead type of movie but aimed at blokes.
General plot involves extremely geeky losers going through a series of 'hilarious' set-pieces, and ending up with extremely hot girls who fancy them for no apparent reason.

I'm not defending these chick flicks by the way, I think they're horrible. I saw the Proposal and while there were some funny bits (all of which were in the trailer) there's always some kind of sinister undertone to these movies (e.g. Sweet Home Alabama, The Family Stone, Junebug) where a high-powered uptight career chick goes to some country town or deep south and is melted into being a real woman by some old fashioned american family values. I'm not sure I'm happy with the message!!

I think it's not too far off to say he's been involved in all of them! (well ok, but still a big amount).

    As writer, director or producer:

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
    The 40-Year-Old Virgin
    Fun with Dick and Jane
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
    Knocked Up
    Superbad
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story es
    Forgetting Sarah Marshall
    Drillbit Taylor
You Don't Mess with the Zohan
    Step Brothers
    Pineapple Express
    Year One
    Funny People

He certainly has his hand in a big percentage of recent comedy flicks.

On the romcom / chick flick situation, I remember reading an article by a screenwriter / producer where he talked about a movie he worked on (can't for the life of me remember the name of it) where they made it a rom com but avoided nearly all the clichés, and delivered what they thought was a really fresh take. And it did terrible at the box office - it was trounced by a formulaic romcom. His interpretation was people feel secure with the formula, they want to see the cheesy scenes and predictable endings. (of course it could equally be that his film wasn't very good)

But maybe it depend on the taste and type of movies we like.

I enjoyed this a lot, but I generally enjoy these girl movies, in spite of my status as a manly man. Ryan Reynolds is very good in this actually, I think he made me laugh the most and plays the character very well, reminding me of how a lot of my own mates would act in certain situations.

have to agree with this post. The man should have some dignity and cop on to himself. How can u take him seriously as a hard nut action star after he appears in slop like "Ugly Truth" and "PS My book only got published coz i am the talentless daughter of an extremely dodgy, right-wing ex-prime minister whose policies have sent his country down the sink hole"...uh...sorry.....PS I Love You.
