Deleted partition - not wiped

    Hi,

I was trying to create a new partition on my external USB HDD.

I successfully created a 2nd partition on this. However, like a cabbage I selected the wrong drive letter with WBFS manager (its Wii related software).

Anyway, WBFS manager is meant to reformat a partition to a specific file system, hence the extra partition on my USB HDD.

Now, When I selected F: instead of G: it apparently wiped my F:. It took less than a second so obviously didnt delete any files, just messed around with the the file system or allocation table or whatever. Active Undelete tells me it can pick up 250GB of data which is fine, however it wont restore the data coz theres not enough space on the HDD!! Theres only the 50GB NTFS partition on G:.

So, long story short, does anyone know how I can get access to my data on F: now that some bits have been swapped telling windows its empty? Theres a lot of stuff on there such as my entire collection of holiday photos since i left ireland last year, as well as lotsa movies/tv shows and all my downloads also go on it.

The data is there but something is telling windows its unformatted!! When i click on it, it says "F: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?".

    Cheers for any help.

Partition Magic by power quest (now symantech) or try this http://dl.paragon-software.com/demo/pm_demo.msi
I've never used the paragon one but partition magic rocks.

    thanks for the info.

I actually have parrtition magic and paragon.

partition magic just picks the drive up as blank with no drive letters, ie 1 big 300gb drive with no F: or G:.
paragon is better. it picks up both partitions with F: as unformatted.

File Scavenger can pick up the files and restore them. the problem is actually having the space to restore it since this partition is actually my file dump!
