    Hi All

I am sure it was on the fitness forum a while ago I read about an algorithm for working out your BMR which takes into account lean body mass and for the life of me I cannot remember its name or find the thread in which it was mentioned.

Would any of you guys know which algorithm this is please?

    Best Regards,

    M

    Hi All

    It's ok, I found it. It's the "Katch-McArdle formula".

Katch-McArdle Formula: (BMR based on LBM) =
    370 + (21.6 x (LBM in kg))

To work out your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) from your BMR

    BMR x Activity Factor

    Sedentary : 1950 x 1.2 = 2340 ~~ 2400 cals
    Light Active: 1950 x 1.375= 2681.5 ~~ 2700 cals
    Mod Active: 1950 x 1.55 = 3022.5 ~~ 3000 cals
    Very Active: 1950 x 1.725= 3363.75 ~~3400 cals
    Extremely Active:1950 x 1.9= 3705 ~~ 3700 cals

    Best Regards,

    M
