i was out today trying to get some rabbits,at about 6 this evening iwas walking along afence line when i saw a small red fox moving along a hedgeline about 90mtrs away, about 15mins after this another fox emerged from the hedgeline, ihad to take alook few times but it was 100% afox but it was yellow in colour not red!almost like labrador yellow but darker fur round its back.is this common or has anyone else ever seen one this colour.ididnt shoot it as i have a .22 but could see it was a fox through the scope.

The red fox can sport a tawny yellow coat and even silver or black, I seen a silver fox years ago, you could probably go back tomorrow armed with a camera and get a pic as most likely they will use the same route;)

If you are close enough for a decent photo, then you are close enough for a .22lr. unless you have some super zoom lens on the camera of course.

Fair play to you bazza. Nice to see your not trigger happy like some guys I know. I only shot my first fox last week. I'm all for keeping the numbers in check, but only when your sure of a good shot. It wouldn't be nice to just clip the little fecker. Two thumbs up for sensible hunting.;)

I'd agree ..........I've been shooting foxes for same amount of time (35 years!) and I've never comes across a yellow one....I've seen all shades of red and even some very dark red ones with lots of black hairs, which appeared to be nearly black from a distance, but I've never seen a yellow one.....would be nice to see a photo.

Try a squeaker from a toy teddy bear or use the palm of your hand and suck air in between your lips and palm to create a squeak.
Try some aeroboard on a piece of glass all cheap and cheerfull ways of calling in Raynard.

The toy squeaker works well, got mine from the pet shop shaped like a pig and the dog goes mad for it.

I like this fellows markings. He obviously knew a) he was in a nature reserve and b) the difference between my camera and my rifle;)

Never saw a yellow fox but a black fox was shot in the U.K. (it had green eyes!)

I would have been very slow to pull the trigger if this fellow came in to the lamp at night.....very difficult to be 100% sure with totally black fur & green eyes!.........I wouldn't have taken the chance!
