dark brown hair, going blonde(ish)

I've brown hair and want to get some highlights/different tones to lift it a bit as I think it's a bit dull and all the very same colour.

Last time i went to get highlights i went to a different salon than my usual and they did the most horrendous job on me! It was like yellow stripes painted on my head, really bad! So I got them to dye it back the colour it was and didn't pay a penny for it. Bad experience! Funny now though!

Anyway, I want to change it and go quite a bit lighter and wondered firstly can anyone recommend anywhere preferably Dublin Southside (I usually go to Toni & Guy in Blackrock but it's really expensive for highlights).

Also, my friend got her hair done last year and asked for blonde and they said it'd have to be done very gradually as her hair is dark, so she came out having paid €140 and hardly any difference, and then went back a few months later and paid the same for a few more. Basically I want it to look noticeably different but without having to go back several times to achieve that look. Any highlight experts that can advise would be most welcome!!

    Thanks :)

I too have really dark brown hair and went with gold and blonde highlights over a colour, They are definately noticeable and I was really pleased with the results. I get mine done by Sandra in the hairbox in Bray. I am really fussy and hate going to the hairdressers but I have to say she is really good.

Forgot to say, I pay about €110/115 for the cut, colour and highights.

I go here www.khaki.ie for my highlights and cut...they're not exactly cheap but they are certainly better value than Toni and guy ( I used to go there too) I've been delighted with my hair since I started going there and have sent lots of my friends in to them.
