Saw the programme and apart from Tommy Walsh comment the programme itself was beyond crap. Utterly pointless.

I sort of knew the club, being in the North County myself, so I watched it- what a waste of time. It was just the usual Loughnane ego trip, listening to him shouting instructions, like what any coach would do at an under 12 training session. There was almost no info on the club itself (Wild Geese) interviews with the players themselves or anything. If this is supposed to be giving a platform to Grass Roots GAA on RTE then it failed miserably.

Anyway sorry about the rant. These lads were playing their first season at adult but they would have been playing for years. He was talking to them as if they never saw a hurl before. I think the first time you get your fingers hit at age 10/12 you get that you need to protect your grip - you dont need Loughnane to tell you, and make a comment about Tommy Walsh at the same time.

A bit harsh IMO. Loughnane was told that they lost 20 games out of 22 in their first season, also the fact they are in the lowest grade possible would make one think they cant hurl.

Anyway I thought Loughnane was good, he tried to give them confidence by praising their skill levels. I thought it was a good piece by the sunday game.

As for the Tommy Walsh comment, it was funny IMO.

Not really. Not to be taken serious.

i think it was excellent and loughnane came across very well. the comment was not meant as an insult IMO, it was telling them what a great player he is and showing them how to sheild the ball from incoming players.

i would love a training session from loughnane, the man is a legend IMO.

ye 20lost one drawn and one won you have to admire them for keeping going mind you a lot of them looked like they should be playing junior rugby not junior hurling

loughnane is a great manager...his presence alone should inspire the dublin lads whom he helped and the praise he gave them will go a long way!nice part of the show!unlike the complete lack of analysis on the draw which was shabby at best!

Tommy Walsh gets away with murder, an odd little comment like that will do no harm, he might even clean up his act a bit !!!
Only caught a little bit of the feature on the Sunday game but it looked decent, a lot of people can relate to junior hurlers and nothing wrong with showing people who cant that the game isn't all fancy stuff on a perfect pitch.
Also, what did Des say about Michael Duignan playing a game earlier that day ?? What age is he and what level is he playing ??

This is what i thought too, but i could see how the comment might be perceived as a dig at Walsh, in a sly way maybe it was.

No harm in Walsh getting "a sly dig".......he's usually the one dishing them out !

Loughnane came across very well, I thought. The comment was more of a compliment than a snide remark.
