Wireless internet question

I have just purchased a new pc, the old pc is still running fine but I am looking to connect it to the internet. I have been looking at a few different things on Komplett but am unsure of exactly what I am looking for.

I have Eircom broadband on the mail pc with the usual Netopia Router. Is it just a case of buying the USB device or will I have to upgrade my router.

If you can help that would be great !

Budget of €50 but that can be increased if I do need a new router!

    Thanks.

LR (if this is the wrong forum for this type of thing I apologise.)

If you have a spare PCI slot you can buy a PCI wireless card. That way you won't use up a valuable USB port.

Yeah that'll do the trick alright. How far away is the PC from the router? If it's quite far away and has to travel through a few walls then you can get one like this It comes with a wire that connects to USB and then you leave the actual wireless receiver on top of the desk so you can move it around to get the best signal.

    Cheers dude,

Well I have a PS3 in the same room and that get's between 45 / 55% signal. Would that be ok?

    Thanks again,

    LR.

Belkin dont have a great reputation with boardies.

You can buy a usb extension lead fairly cheaply and you can use that with any usb wireless dongle to try to improve your signal if necessary.

You just got in before me Dub45.

OP buy the usb dongle you originally linked to and if the reception is poor then you can buy the extension lead to improve it.
