Do you have a "Me Me Me" night?

I have one every Thursday night, I light my candles and have a bath. I do all my preening and pruning so that I am ready for whatever the weekend throws at me :D

If you don't have one, I highly recommend that you start, I feel so good and shiny and new going to bed on a Thursday night and wake up fresh as a daisy on Friday morning! :)

That's a really good idea, OP!

I've often thought of having one, but most of the time, I'm too tired after work!

I think given the downer most people seem to be on at the moment, given the recession and such other factors, I think people could do with a few hours of 'me time' and relaxation per week.

A bit of pampering always does a world of good!

Even if it's just painting my nails, I always feel better afterwards! :)

Oh I know that feeling. Although at the moment I am out of work, but when I was working I was often too tired, but as soon as you fill your bath and have a soak for a while it's kind of refreshes you. Then you can fall into bed happily :)

And it doesn't have to cost a fortune either, a few drops of lavender oil and a couple of tea lights is all you need!

yeah.... i have realised after a long year of working too hard and trying to go in too many different directions that I am number one(apart from the obvo work and family commitments)... and maybe its slefish but I can honestly say I have never been happier...

I think that's a good attitude to have.
    You should put yourself first.

I don't mean you should care for friends and family less, but you should see yourself as important and take care of your own needs, as best you can!

I've been trying to do the same lately! This summer, I wanted to work on myself and my career, it's been going well so far :)

I think a bit of time to relax in the evenings is definitely a great idea! It's nice to have some time to yourself, to just chill out and spoil yourself!

I'm moving into my first home in about a month's time and I can't wait to do this. Thursday is the perfect night for it too. Forget about having to pay a mortgage and all the other crap that goes along with owning a house- it's going to be me me me every Thursday and I'm so excited!!!

God I would love a me me me night!

There have been visitors in our house every night since I got back from ireland from my little brothers funeral. There was only one night when I was on my own and I had to catch up on housework.

I don't think the oh realises that it's hard for me to put on a happy face for every member of his extended family and all his friends.

What I would love is to have a big bubble bath, a few glasses of wine, then be all snuggly clean in new pyjamas and watch Friends/Scrubs/other silliness on DVD. But it will be ten days before I get the house to myself...

(PS I'd like to point out I didn't mention my bro as a sob story cos I know that's annoying, but it's just to explain why I need a bit of "me" time!)

    Not selfish at all.

Another one :) The revolution has begun!!

I bought some lavender bubble bath, body/face exfoliant, hair mask, face mask and body lotion. None of it was very expensive, as I said it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Lush massage bar - they're amazing, they smell great and they leave your skin so soft.

One of my best friends and I used to have massage nights allll the time.
It was really relaxing and it was free! :D

Nail polish as well, it's always nice to have your nails looking nice!

Hair masks are a good idea too - they leave your hair feeling really soft and in great condition.

You could try making your own face masks too, I often do! I have this great book, full of beauty tips, so I'll post up some ingredients you'll need later, if anyone would like?

Definitely Lush products for the Me Me Me night!! I know some people don't like going into the shop cos the smell can be a bit overpowering, but it's so worth it! My boyfriend makes a face every time I mention the shop cos he hates the smell.... he still went in and got me stuff from there for Valentine's day though!! :D

The Boots botanicals stuff is very good too- I really recommend their sugar scrub, it exfoliates and moisturises so your skin will be so so soft after it- people have even commented to me about my skin after using it.

I like the Montagne Jeunesse face masks, you can get them in most supermarkets, they're pretty good and not expensive.

Don't forget to have the clean sheets on the bed for when you get into it!

Keep the image of the fantastic 'me, me, me' night you're going to have in mind and it should help you get through until all the visitors are gone.

My spoil myself nights usually seem to involve me answering the front door to the take away delivery person with a face mask on. The smell of curry probably cancels out the relaxing lavender shower gel (don't have a bath where i'm living :( ), but it's part of the treat myself routine to not have to cook or wash up.

Feels lovely to curl up in front of a DVD and relax - this thread has reminded me it's been a while....i now know what i'm doing tmw night. :)

What a great idea! I am sooo going to do this some night! I usually just have a shower in the mornings before work or whatever and painting my nails is always a big rush, sometimes I even do it in the car on the way to work! I am definitely gonna take some time out and be all proper girlie, it sounds really fun!

Reminds me of sleepovers I had with my friends when I was like 14, good times :)

    Hi Everyone!

As requested, I'm going to put up details of how to make your own home-made face-masks! :)

Normal Skin: Firm and elastic, perfectly hydrated.

Mix a small pot of live yogurt with the same amount of runny honey. Spread on the face and leave for 15 minutes.

Dry Skin: Taut and dull, thin lines around mouth and eyes

Mash an avocado with one teaspoon of lemon juice and two teaspoons of wheatgerm. Spread over face, avoiding the eye area and leave for 10 minutes.

Oily Skin/Combination Skin: Shiny nose, forehead and chin, dilated pores.

Beat together an egg white and juice of half a lemon. Leave for 10 minutes.

If anyone would like to know my source ; "Supermodel's Beauty Secrets" by Victoria Nixon.

    Also, another mask recipe I found was from an article in The Daily Mail, about a month ago ;

Strawberry and butter face mask for normal skin

To refresh and brighten normal skin... Simply combine 1 tablespoon (3 teaspoons) of unsalted butter with a large strawberry (mashed) and apply to your face. Leave the mixture on for 10 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water.

    Hope this helps! :)
