    Hiya,
Looking for the best place to rent a car in Galway city. I usually go with Enterprise and have only good things to say about them but they may not have an automatic car for the time period that I need. So I have to find an alternative. Any suggestions? Oh and as funny as it may sound when you're writing, please dont tell me to learn standard/manual I hear it all the time. (Its on my list of things to do)
    Cheers,
    Simon

I would suggest ringing all the rental places. They might have an automatic car available for American tourists.

Where can you pick the car up from?

The only rental companies I know of in Galway city are Enterprise (Ballybane), Budget, and Windsors (a car dealers at Ballybrit who also do rentals). If they can't help, the next best thing might be to try picking up at the airport, or even Shannon, where some other companies might operate from.

AVIS at Galway airport will provide you with an auto. Just book in plenty of time in case they need a day or two to transport one up from Dublin/Cork.
