In Xtravision Rathmines--says extremely limited stock. The specs aren't even on the box bar "High Contrast". Still, colours and contrast seemed fine on the display model.

Seems like an good picture on it, but for €299 I wouldn't be expecting much.

Thinking about buying this. Friend who works in Xtra said the picture was good but nothing special. An adequate cheap TV. Can't trace any reliable reviews of it.

Was it set up and running in the shop?

Ya it was set up and running in he shop. I set it up! Your friend is right, its nothing special but for €299 its a good TV.

I saw it p and running in the Tullamore store last night an d i was very impressed with the picture quality. A Blueray HD disk was running on it.

I normally go for decent brands but i thought it would be good for gaming consoles or a bedroom etc.

That's exactly what I intend to use it for. Just hmmm and hawwwing over spending an extra hundred and odd for a Panasonic

Cool. I'll head in this evening for it then. Are you working this evening Jenno, get your numbers up! :)

Only thing I don't miss about working in Xtravision is trying to flog the electronics!

Right, bought the TV (in Thomas St, sorry it was closer :)) and I must say i'm very very impressed with it. Clarity is great, no flicker, colours are vivid and sharp, menus easy to navigate (although manual tuning is awkward, autotune is perfectly fine), first impressions very good!

They had a few in stock but said they could get more on order from the warehouse at notice.

Does anyone know if it has that pesky dynamic contrast feature? You know, the one where it brightens and darkens that backlight according to the picture being fed to it? And if so, whether it can be switched off? That's a dealbreaker pour moi:confused:

    Not being picky---just cannot tolerate a dimming-then-brightening-then-dimming fiasco of a viewing experience:o

Haven't noticed it or even an option for it.

EDIT: I might add, it has the usual User/Cinema/Vivid/Cool settings anyway.

Are you SURE you don't still work for XtraVision?;)

Haha, sometimes I wish I did... The shop today made me nostalgic. They all have the same smell of shake and vac with slight dusty must...

    Yeah what's WITH that???:D

When you were in there were they doing any deals on 26inchers?

Yeah, there was a 26" AOR for €279. The 32" DGM is way better value.

It's a shame the DGM in Rathmines isn't set up a tiny little bit better. Transformers DVD is playing through an Xbox360 component lead, so it's hard to judge the picture quality... (IMHO Xbox360s actually do a crap job with DVDs)

I saw Stealth and Bolt on Bluray playing through it and the picture was grand. Even with the fast action sequences in Stealth it looked good.

if anyone can't get their hands on this, Power City have a Walker 32" (pretty much same components as mitsubishi) for same price

Saw that (actually posted about it) but there's very few specs on Power City's site and I can't find anything about Walker TVs online (someone on my other thread claimed Walker is mitsubishi's new brand for TVs after selling the Black Diamond label?)

Anyways if anyone has seen the Walker telly, let us know how good/poo it is!

Walkers are rebadged black diamond's, which were produced by mitsubishi originally. There a budget set, but decent picture off them and same warranty as other, dearer brands like philips/samsung/lg etc...

Power City almost always have some form of 32" going for €299, walker/beko/grundig

Watch out for the "rava" models in power city though, they ARE the exact same set as the walker, but offer only polish language instructions. :D

Most people wouldn't need the manual, but just a heads up!!

    Comparable to the DGM?
