The Anglo Celtic County Cup 2010

The England and Wales Darts Organisations are pleased to announce a new tournament in their calendars for 2010. The Anglo Celtic County Cup with over £8000 prize money will be held at The Pontins Holiday Centre in Prestatyn on the weekend of 2nd – 4th July 2010.
The tournament will be the first collaboration between the two Countries and hopefully will lead to further events for the benefit of all their members, along with the general playing public of the UK.

The main event The Anglo Celtic County Cup will be for County teams consisting of 9 players 6 men and 3 Ladies, Counties will be able to put more than 1 team in the event, and the 1st Round of the event will be on a Round Robin basis with the group winners going into a straight knock-out event.

Invitations have been sent out and accepted by Scotland, Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland, along with the joint hosts Wales and England, to send along their teams. This is probably the first time all the domestic senior County/Area teams throughout the UK have been brought together.

Alongside the main event there will be a singles championship in the Ladies, Mens & Youth categories on Sunday 4th July 2010, with ‘Money in Money out’ event on Friday evening.

Tommy Thompson Chairman of England Darts said this is a unique opportunity for all our members to continue forward the aspirations of England and its members, and more importantly to be involved in the first joint venture between two countries is exactly where we want to be, in this economic climate further collaborations are going to be in the best interest of the sport of darts, it is beyond doubt that working together we are stronger. He further said he would like to thank Wayne Williams for having the courage of inviting England into this joint venture and also Alan Marshall who along with Wayne secured the sponsorship, and finally a thank you to The Pontins Holiday Centre in Prestatyn, who have taken the opportunity of staging the event. There is no doubt in Tommy’s opinion that this event will prove to be a massive winner. Finally thank you to the executives of the participating Countries for giving their support to the event.
