Sky Reception Problems

In the last couple of weeks my Sky picture has started going all wonky and it's gotten worse in the last week or two and now is getting unwatchable. The picture stops and starts and freezes for seconds at a time. The audio goes aswell sometimes so you have to switch channel and switch back to get it back and in the mornings when you swtich on the Sky box at the plug sometimes you just get the message "satellite signal not being received'' and this is only fixed by switching the box on and off at the plug again.

I was wondering does anyone else have a similar problem or know what might be causing it?? Is my Sky box simply about to give up, I've had it now for ~6/7 years, or is it a problem with the satellite itself? I'm in Letterkenny if it's a case of transmission problems around this area.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on the matter.

Sounds to me like your dish needs a slight realignment.
They can and do move over time.
You can check your signal strength in the services menu(i think), the quality bar is the important one.

A callout from a sat tech shouldn't be more than €80 and will sort it 100%

    good luck

Well the signal Strength bar is just above halfway and the signal quality bar is at what would look like 80-90%, would this suggest it's the dish that needs realigning?

Also this problem has been happening on the channel 4 channels like C4, E4 and More4 for quite a long time and they are unwatchable the majority of the time.

your dish is not correctly facing the satellite. if you have gotten something installed from sky from a year ago to now, sky will fix it free of charge. but if you havent, you may be charged (how much, i dont know).

go to services, system setup, signal test. the bar will show you how bad it is...

bw: i dont work for sky..

i'm having similar problems over the past week. the problem is only happening to C4, C4+1, E4 and E4+1. All other channels are fine. The picture stalls on screen you have to move to another channel and then back again. This is happening every 5 minutes or so.
