JP Liz starts every PPV thread but not this one seemingly (if thats why the OP is confusing you), tis too early for much speculation but unless they are doing that HIAC PPV id predict them finally ending the HHH vs Orton feud at Summerslam.

I know but this thread is pointless tbh, Night Of Champions hasn't even passed yet.

You very well may be correct and if you are the thread will slip down the board only to be bumped when it is more relevant, no biggie really.

Well seeming as Summerslam is meant to be in the top 3 PPV's of the year no shame in bringing it up a bit earlier than usual.

God I really hope they're not dragging HHH/Orton out till then. The feud that just won't f*cking die.

well it aint going to end in a triple threat involving Cena so culminating it in one of their biggest PPVs of the year makes sense imo and as ive said a few times I think its one of those feuds that almost needs a HIAC type match to finally end it so it may even go longer than that if they plan on having that HIAC themed PPV.

It hasn't even been one of those feuds that throws up a series of great matches like Rey/Eddy or Angle/Benoit though. Its been mediocre from start to finish and the sooner its over the better IMO.

I would tend to agree with you here but if I was a writer after the amount of time that has been given to the HHH vs Orton feud id wanna give it a proper conclusion and that for me would be a big blow-off match at one of the biggest PPVs of the year with a HIAC match even if as a viewer i dont wanna view HHH vs Orton anymore at this point (nor did i really to begin with although the pre mania build was decent).

Honestly Rey v Jericho and Edge vs Hardy have been better in my opinion than HHH/Orton.

I see what you're saying here, and I totally agree that it would seem odd to blow this particular feud off in any way other than with a HIAC. However, it's also obvious to me that if one of the two participants were not HHH, they would have pulled the plug on this crappy rivalry a long time ago. Really, logic isn't usually their strong point, and they're happy to dispose of it with other guys, so why not Hunter....
God, I remember watching Judgement Day 2008 and thinking I was getting sick of this rivalry!

again I agree if it wasnt HHH they would have dropped this feud already but as much as i agree with yourself and all the people saying Rey/Jericho for example has been a far superior feud in the fans eyes I think another meet where (and here is the part that may not happen) Orton is properly put over HHH as i dont think that has really happened yet. Even last time which was the one 1on1 match between the 2 in which he actually won, Rhodes & Dibiase were needed and it was still HHH and his sledgehammer standing tall at the minute. We dont want to see any more of this feud but if they eventually put Orton over properly I think the majority of people will be happy that they got another 1 match out of it.

Yeah you're right. It's a feud that needed/needs to end with Orton standing tall after a clean, decisive win. Alot of people praised the way that HHH put him over at Backlash- but while he did that in the context of the match, that context itself completely undermined Orton's achievement. Storyline-wise, it would also make sense for the feud to end when Hunter realises he's no longer the better man, and walks away.

I'll definitely be more interested to see what they do with Punk come Summerslam though.

I'd feud him with Rey. For him to get fully over the top as a heel he has to go up against the biggest babyface on Smackdown. With Hardy on the way out, the next most over face is Rey. The matches would be great too and I'm sure Punk could carry the promo side of the feud.

Id actually much prefer them to drag out Punk vs Hardy than HHH/Orton but doubt they will I mean there is just so much more that could be done with that feud as Hardy is the perfect face for Punk to turn full on heel against and talk about how being straight edge means hes better than you. Appart from him they have built nobody except perhaps Morrison to face Punk and although id like that Punk vs Morrison doesent exactley sound like a Main Event, atleast not in 2009

but as Flah says there is always Rey Rey and it does have to be a over face really to turn him fully heel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,006 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

have lost most of my interest in Pro Wrestling recently. MMA has really taken over, but I cannot believe HHH is still going up against Orton. Orton please end this feud with a W once and for all

Is Taker not due back by Summerslam? It wouldn't shock me to see him face Punk, but how they'll make it work I'm not sure. "I look after myself, that's why I'm still alive. How many times have I died? Zero."

Taker would be next after Hardy and Rey but id have him go over Rey whilst Taker makes his return and whips whoever he is up against as you gotta know he aint losing on his return. Dont know if everone would agree but Taker is still the most popular or atleast the most over face on SD and with Hardy gone SD will be heel heavy and now that the WWE have given Punk the ball as a heel they have to let him run with it and he has to face and go over the big faces be it clean or not (hes slowley going moer and more heel so cheating to win is okay).

In regards to Punk's opponent, i think if at the PPV Rey drops the IC title to Ziggler, then clearly he's going to be the one to move onto Punk at Summerlsam. But if he's still champion, I wouldn't be suprised if they moved JoMO into the spot for a month or two, as he's "earned" it. Given that the Raw title would probably be the one that they'd be looking to draw the summerslam buy-rate, it might not be a bad time to try something like that. Punk could work wonders on earning sympathy for Morrison too.

Hardy's going to be a massive, massive loss on Smackdown.

Personally I would not blame Vince if he was wary of doing Punk v Jo Mo at Summerslam, Morrison's lack of overness could be exposed brutally at the second biggest PPV od the year.
They could if they are desperate to have him in it, make it a triple threat and have Jeff involved if they can get him to stay that long or have Rey or Taker involved instead.

Oh yeah, I agree, it could be horrible. I'm not suggesting he should go with Mo/Punk at all, just that I wouldn't be suprised. I do think Punk could help Morrison out a ton though, if booked correctly, because right now, there's no reason to cheer for him.

I'd keep Taker away from Punk until they can properly build up a match between them though, or at least have Punk be over as a credible heel first. It'd be awful to kill his momentum right off the bat.

Early talk coming out of WWE this weekend is that the tentative main event for WWE's SummerSlam pay-per-view in August will be Triple H vs. John Cena but that can and probably will change.

Is Taker and HBK suppose to back for SS?

Supposedly Michaels should be returning at SS, and he's on some publicity I here. Taker's due back in either sept/oct according to The Observer.

WWE is eyeing Carlito vs. Primo for Summerslam, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The profile of the Carlito-Primo feud has been minimized due to their inability to go one-on-one at the Night of Champions pay-per-view, but it definitely appears on track to continue.

I'd say Taker will be back just in time for the Hell in a cell ppv, which is october 4th!

It said that it could be a dark match

I hate the idea of dark matches at PPV's I wanted to see Mizorrison v The colons at WM but then it was a wrestlemania dvd exclusive, "I'm paying for this card I should get to actually see it"
I can understand why JoMo wouldn't really be trusted at a huge PPV because of his relatively small fan base so far.But first off they need to get another big name into smackdown before summerslam if Hardy does leave,And it looks like he wont be in the WWE on monday.

The last I heard is that Jeff's contract does expire at the end of this month, but that he'll be working until Summerslam. After that he's not booked for any house shows or anything like that

They're impressed with the way hes put Punk over without complaint and worked hard on houseshows, which leads me to believe he intends coming back sometime in the future.

Jeff Hardy v CM Punk in a loser leaves WWE match could work I suppose. However if Jeff does leave before that they should get Rey into the main event, Morrison is nowhere near ready for the main event of Summerslam. Truth is more over them for goodness sake.

I haven't been watching Smackdown lately, just sort of reading the results, and I know about Punk bringing up Jeff's drug use and his two strikes

I hadn't thought about this though, and I can't remember who wrote it but it was probably Meltzer, that if Jeff just leaves now unannounced then it'll come across to most fans like he failed another drug test. He was suggesting that it seems as though that's the way that WWE are planning to book his exit. I wonder if that is the case and if Vince is doing it because he's angry at Jeff for leaving

I have enjoyed the feud but I don't like the rematch clause factor, It takes away the no.1 contender matches which are usually great. A few of the wrestling sites have DX reforming at summerslam.

it would make sence, legacy stopped hunter winning the title in the 3 stages of hell match, he did the crotch chops after he hit orton with the hammer, and then the european tour is called the dx invasion tour, so all the clues are there!

It does make sense, this time HBK can save HHH after trips saved HBK form The Spirit Squad........

It fits in with WWE trying to up their age rating, They're going for PG-13 people!
Great Success! I would mark-out if they came back though. Haitch was a bit like his
former goofy DX self when Seth Green was guest host.

it does make sense altho i dont see it being a full on DX return just a few more for one night only occasions as they like to do whilst HHHs feud with Randy still bubbles under the surface. HHH will probably be annoyed with not being no.1 contender and being able to take on Orton so will take on Legacy instead and get booked in a 2 on 1 handicap match at SummerSlam only for another big Summerslam return and this time HBK evening the numbers up, the crowd pops big time and Legacy get buried again...seems par for the course really.
