Overall soreness, does it get better?

I've been going to the gym for a few weeks to build up my fitness level. On Friday I started doing squats, push-ups etc.. Today I am in so much pain! Well it's more ache than pain. I am supposed to go to the gym tomorrow but the thoughts of being this sore again after is putting me off. :(

Does the soreness lessen after a couple of times? I was never a fan of no pain no gain! (and look where that got me!)

your body will get used to it , how ever do not work the same body part untill the sore ness has left , (by the way it is called DOM's which stands for delayed onset muscel soreness it peeks 48 hours after the fact)

    Thank you.
So should I just do Cardio tomorrow and the other exercises (is there a name for them? Sorry I'm a newbie!) on Monday?

I get this all the time if I've started back at the gym after a long time away, or if I've just been doing cardio and start doing weights. The pain and stiffness goes away after a few days and I think I usually wait until it has before doing the same exercises again.

Thanks Grandmaster, I'm going up to the gym now in a while. So I think I will just do the cardio and swimming and do the toning exercises tomorrow.

Really?? It's what I live for.

I deadlifted Friday afternoon and I'm still stiff from the workout, and I abalously love the feeling. :D

Always feel a little cheated if I don't get DOMS after a heavy workout. Maybe it's just me.

Does anyone else love the stiff sore feeling? Or is it just me?

    :)

Well I'm a newbie! So maybe I'll get to like it. I went today, and made myself do it!

I sometimes feel that if I don't feel sore then I haven't pushed myself hard enough. While I don't like the pain after - I do like the feeling of having pushed myself to the limit. My legs were in pieces after the 5mile in the phoenix park on saturday but they grand again today so I'm raring to go again!

Munster_Gal - I really really had to push myself yesterday. I got through the exercises without tears!! When I was doing the running on the thread mill, I got to about five minutes and thought to myself "I can't do this!" but I made myself do the fifteen minutes.
    Feeling quite smug now :)
    Until tommorrow...........

More so for running and football aches and pains but 'Biofreeze' is my new best friend. The aches are negligible now.

I trained legs on Friday, they're still aching horribly today... I knew they would hurt for a day or so as I hadn't trained them for two weeks... but this is more than I expected... so Yes soreness will always be there unless you train regularly and don't train a sore muscle.

Iused to hate it too, but the funny thing is... when you are at it a whileand you don't have any soreness the next day you feel kinda cheated (at least I do). It's like, I worked out so hard and it feels like I did nothing!!

Then again I suppose that means you are getting fitter!!

Give it a few months and you will long for that feeling again ahah
