There are two fourballs of us heading to Scotland in the second week in September. We are getting the boat from Larne to Stranraer and want to play golf in that general vicinity, Ayr and Prestwick area. We are not looking for the top courses or anything like that but want a bit of value for money. Any advice on courses that are worth playing and that are fairly reasonable? Thanks

You will have no shortage of courses to play in the Ayrshire area, take a look at the following link which should be able to help. There are plenty of Open Qualifier courses which can be played at reasonable prices. Get some nice weather and you are in for a treat.

That link very informative and proves that golf can be relatively cheap in Scotland. Thanks for that.

You dont want to play the big names courses but most of these have 2nd or 3 courses associated with them. I can recommend Preswick St Nicholas, Troon Portland,Troon DarleyTroon Lochgreen
