Early days yet but a possibility of a huge shock.

Laois leading 1-9 to 0-9 at half time. Surely not...

Laois 1-9 Limerick 0-9 at Half time.

Justin will have some harsh words at half time. I do believe James Young didnt start for Laois today, handy sub to have to bring on..

Dubs will be laughing at this.

At the match now. That willie hyland guy is doing damage. Because they are gone in as hot favourites, limerick are feeling the pressure. Hopefully justin mcs words of wisdom can turn the match around. Laois are missing alot of free oppurtunities as well.

Not so much that we're feeling the pressure, more like we were a little complacent. We're not playing well but should still win by 8 to 10 points. I expect Justin to be breaking hurleys off the wall right now. Hyland and Stapleton are playing some great stuff for Laois. You have to give them credit, especially seeing as they went 1-5 to no score in front. If we give in more ball to Paudie Mac we'll be fine, and i still see Shaughnessy getting a goal or two if he's not fouled. Have no fear Treatyites, there'll be no shock here today.

I do believe that if this game ends up in a Laois win this there will be a draw for the QF.

Ya if Limerick win they can only play Dublin but Laois could play either so there would be a draw.

    This is hard to watch!

Limerick seem to be uping it in the last few minutes

Limerick are starting to turn this around now and I reckon could turn out to be easy enough winners in the end.

Hopefully Laois continue to put it up to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

God, what a boost that would be if we actually manage to draw Laois rather than Galway or Cork!

Still a long way to go though, obviously. Laois now only 2 ahead.

since when have dublin been/became a team to laugh at any other teams performance no matter who is playing........

i don't think kilkenny would be laughing.........

as well you should know all teams perform differently day to day, and its a stupid remark on that count

Level with 10 minutes to go, Limerick were 1-20 this morning

Unbelievable. Sligo leading Kerry at HT, Wicklow through to the last twelve, this could be the craziest afternoon in living memory.

Limerick are doing their utmost to lose this match. 4 shocking wides within 4 minutes.

very cool here man, just thought it was a silly thing to say
less of the tiger there too kiddo,

and i'm so cool that people freeze when i walk past;)

My heart goes out to the Laois team, great effort but in the end just not good enough as Limerick's superior conditioning, fitness, physicality and skill show in the end.

Was having a heartattack towards the end. When donie ryan subbed paul browne, i was like wtf! He was our best forward. Cant wait for the cork/galway match. Gonna be a cracker.:D

I don't think it was, Dalo will be rubbing his hands with glee and will have absolutely no fear of Limerick after their BRUTAL displays against Laois and Waterford, a comment just echoed by Duignan and Flynners on RTE btw.

Cant see us getting past Dublin. Just hope we dont get beaten off the park. Cant see why Ollie wasnt used. Surely would have been a better option than Breen. Ollie didnt look too happy on the bench!

Any predictions for Cork Galway. I fancy Galway by a few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

I think Cork will win, but I really hope Galway win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭chinguetti

Limerick were lucky to win but i did say that they wouldn't hammer Laois.

Dublin are far from hosed and home. Lmk will drag any team down to their level and thats not knocking them, its a fact. They are not the most skillful players but they keep trying, something that alot of fella don't do when the going is tough.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

I'd like to see Galway make the breakthrough but Cork might just have that bit of cuteness, just like they did below in Thurles this time last year. Both forwards lines are over reliant on certain players, Cork on Ben O connor and Galway on Joe Canning. If some other forwards such as Hayes or O Hailpin can step up it could tilt the balance in their favour. Two really evenly matched teams here I think.

Well you've far more confidence in our fullback line if we met Galway then I do then! :p

Remember if Galway win today, then next week will be their 3rd big championship game in a row....Clare/Cork/Waterford. We saw in 2007 the damage that 3 games in a row can do to a team

I could see Canning having a field day against our fullback line the next day if they beat Cork today.

Not sure what the solution is, maybe stick Ringo in there? Can't be any worse than poor Prender the last day, whos confidence must be destroyed at this stage.

Also after the Cork carry on of strikes the last 2 years I would be cheering for anyone playing against them. Even Kilkenny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Lads this result for Limerick and how the game panned out will be better for Limerick. We would have learnt nothing by beating Laois by 20 points, we know we still have a lot of things to improve on. The Dubs will be favourites now and parts of the media will be writing us off. Just the way we want it. NOW i'm looking forward to this Cork-Galway match, should be a cracker.

Anyone know what day/venue the quarter finals are down for next weekend? Sunday in Thurles? Crokers taken up with U2 anyway isn't it?

it's all Cork, bar the frees
should have been another there as Cadogan had Joe's camán when the ball came in. waterford might enjoy watching this one !!

Very disappointing so far, maybe the weather is playing a role but both teams seems very flat. Cork better so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Cork's carry on with the striking has really come back to bite imo. They were a shadow of their former selves today. Perhaps proper preparation earlier in the year would have helped.

Onwards to next week. Galway massive massive favourites to make the semi finals, likewise Dublin against Limerick. Who'd have thought 3 Leinster teams in the semi finals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,463 ✭✭✭run_Forrest_run

a very poor first half but in the second half Galway came out with signs of change for the positive. The better team won but god they were wasteful in the first half.

I'd say Niall McCarthy is still blushing after that sitter he fluffed. I think I would have even got that on target;)

He was finished two years ago, never mind this year. The fact he even got on the subs bench is testament to the lack of options available to Denis Walsh.

the stewards at the match today were saying that its gonna be a double header in thurles next sunday with limerick/dublin playing first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

By the way, I would like to congratulate Donie Ryan on scoring a point in the closing minutes of the limerick match today.
Well done Donie! :) Theres always a first time for everything and today was his first. :D

Good performance by Laois. Just goes to show that we can mix it with the bigger teams. Those in Croke Park with ideas for us in the Christy Ring Cup had better take note. It's promotion of our skills we need, not relegation.
