Dell studio 1535 laptop

    hey i'm working on a dell studio 1535.

    The problem is that the screen comes on for the dell boot up, it last for a couple of seconds until the dell splash screen disppears and then the screen goes blank. About 30 seconds later the vista icon appears perfectly in the middle of the screen and disappears. I can then see in the background the login screen. However it is as if the inverter is gone and the backlight is not working.

    However, the screen lights at two stages during the boot up and replacing the inverter had no effect.

    Any suggestions on what i could try next? I'm beginning to think it is the CCFL backlight

    If the CCFL is gone then the screen shouldn't light up at all.
    Perhaps it's just a bad solder joint and the bulb is intact.
    Can you try it on an external monitor? Use Fn + F8 to switch to VGA out.
