    Hi,

I have a 2004 BMW 320D an I was wondering how I can reset the Oil Service light as I have serviced the oil myself.

    Thanks for the help,
    T.

hope you kept the receipts for the oil and oil filter to prove the service took place :D

That's something I've never done:o....although I change the oil every 5k. As a matter of fact I've just spent ~€300 this week on parts for a service for my 320d (crank breather,Castrol Edge 0-30, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter etc).

keep them man, how will the next owner ever know or believe you when your trying to sell the car!
whatever about the oil changes in between which is grand, but for the major and scheduled services you should either have the stamp in the book or a receipt for all the parts bought.

Seriously though, I have never used a main dealer when the car I have owned was out of warranty.
I use an indy all the time and mark up the service book myself. It will pay off eventually when you sell the car.
I bought an old diesel car years ago and the owner had a little hardback notebook with all the parts that he had replaced and all the service intervals. I bought the car with 112,000 miles on the clock. It went like a mouses heart for the next 80,000 miles which i put on the car, changing the oil every 3 to 5k.
My current car had a full service history when I bought it, and as I said,I keep the records up to date by just writing in the work done in the service manual.
This will be much more common over the next few years imo.

Well as my car now has 153k (miles:D ) on it I reckon that it's probably worth zilch on the open market....so I'll have to keep it ...forever!:p;)
