You'd want to rename the thread and put spoiler tags in it !!! Ps - C'mon Nick !

    Great to see.

Gap looking very healthy atm and he's supposedly not a bad sprinter.:

PS. Do we really need spoiler tags in this thread? What would people have to talk about that is unspoilered? The title needs to be spoiler free more so than the thread.

At 11 mins now - will this put him into the white jersey?

Edit: About 7 minutes down on white.

The peleton will have to put some serious work here.

If they can keep it up it'll knock a lot off that 16 odd minutes he's behind.

The Time gap is all over the place 8.00 min now ..?

Can't believe the gap is increasing, nearly 9 minutes now!

Astana look like they're working hard there, hard to believe they're not closing it.

From an etiquette point of view, is Roche allowed to contest the sprint now, given that he's done no work in the breakaway?

Was just thinking the very same thing !

Does he have a rep as a sprinter ? I think he was classed as one early on in his career.

He probably won't get involved as it wouldn't make him popular. Yes he's a good sprinter. He had a second in the vuelta last year. As he's staying at the back he probably won't get involved in the break away within the break away.

In fact, heis 15 down on white and more on yellow.

AG2R finally working on the front, and immediately the time comes down. Pity, I was enjoying watching Astana take all the pain there.

Hope Hincapie holds on for the yellow.

I figured it wouldn't make Roche popular alright, but you'd still be tempted to go for it, eh?

Yeah, it's not like he's going for overall yellow and he could be told to keep the sponsors happy.

What happened on Voights wheel change? Someone was giving out about the neutral service car. Cost him his place on the breakaway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

Gets very interesting now - most of the guys in the breakaway aren't working for Hincapie now, they reckon they're safe. It's dropped to 6'52" now with AG2R working very hard on the front.

Edit: AG2R can't keep it up! Letting Astana take over.

Finally an exciting stage in the Tour :)

Hopefully they'll bring it down which may allow Roche to go!!!!!!!!

there'd be no issue with him going for it IMO. He was entitled not to work.

Well it's that time of the stage, who's going to grow a pair? I reckon Roche has the minerals :D

Can anyone tell me who these commentators are (and what channel this feed is from)? Just wondering.

    --

These mini-breaks are going to help Hincapie. Roche needs to get on the back of this.

    Roche AWAY! Go on!

Caught. This is brilliant stuff, wonderful attack from Ivanov!

Very strong from Ivanov. Hincapie must take yellow now unless he blows up.

Roche 2nd! Great attack at the end! Maybe he was faking looking wrecked!

His DS mightn't be too happy if Hincapie takes yellow by less than 10s :)

    2nd!!! Fair play to him!

Some final 10km TT from Ivanov though.......

In fairness to newstalk though, every morning report the previous days results, including Roches current standing in GC.

Commentators saying Hincapie is really pissed off with Armstrong & Astana for their part in the chase down. 5 seconds cost him the yellow.

Really impressed by Roche, just a shame that Ivanov countered when he did or he might have been in with a shout for the win.

I find newstalk pretty good actually for stuff like this. RTE radio can be ok too, would be just nice to see it get a mention on the 9 oclock news.

Yes how dare they increase their chances off winning the tour:rolleyes:

I dont think Hincapie has anything to complain about tbh.

It made no difference to who'll win the Tour, Hincapie is not a real GC contender. It made a huge difference to him though, not getting the yellow in probably his last Tour.

Looks like Cav has had his sprint result removed for pushing Thor into the barrier.

It's a shame that they weren't organised when Ivanov made his move. He's not the kind of rider you can let get a gap. Roche turned out to be the strongest of the rest, which isn't bad considering there were a few good sprinters in the break. Mind you, not having to work meant he was probably fresher, but I'm sure defending the yellow jersey for the past week meant that he's feeling the pain as well.

Lance is an absolute tool though, to be fair. ;)

Congrats to Nicolas Roche, a very strong ride. Possibly a future GC contendor, or is his climbing too weak?

Could develop into a top 10 contender, but I don't know if he'll challenge for a win. While he has ambitions to be a grand tour rider, I think he may be better suited to shorter stage races like Paris Nice or the hilly classics. He's a good climber with a nice sprint.

Well fingers crossed - it's on the website. Also says that a woman died after getting hit by one of the motorbikes :(
edit: it's coming up on the 6pm news anyway!
