Acer 6935G PC World €599

This might not be applicable to every PC World store, but just to give people a heads up just in case they're around their local, it's worth checking out. The Acer 6935G in Galway was out of stock, but apparently permanently, so they were selling the display model for a measly €599. It was in perfect nick and definitely not out long, as all the plastic was perfectly intact and not a spot to be seen on the machine itself.

    Specs:

    16" HD Screen
    Core 2 Duo T6400
    3GB DDR3 Ram
    512MB Nvidia 9600GS
    Touch sensitive Media Panel
    HDMI Out
    Draft-N Wifi and Bluetooth
Dolby Home Theater; 2 drivers and subwoofer
    USB/E-Sata/Card Reader/IR

Grabbed it myself...unbelievable bargain. Worth checking other stores to see if they're selling their displays also.

Just recently PC World have been doing a Samsung R510 15.4'' 4gb Ram, 160gb hard drive Intel Core 2 duo for €650 which I snapped up, It kinda put that offer in the shade.

I have this laptop's daddy (4GB/T9400 2.53Ghz/320GB version), picked it up for €1k wholesale 6 months ago, was retailing for about 1400 at the time.

TBH Im only relatively pleased with it. The display has clapped out on me, and only works every few times you start it up andf shut it down. I dont know whether this is a loose internal cable or what, but it's fairly sh1t, and my resolution will have to be to send it off to Asia to get repaired.

The Cinedash controls on the side are finicky at best, and fairly useless tbh. Be sure to remove the plethora of sh1te that comes pre-installed too.

I wouldn't consider €400 cheaper than I paid 6 months ago for a lesser-spec'ed model a BA, but suppose not everyone has access to wholesale purchasing either.

Well in fairness Wholesale is not really comparable to retail, there's a large price difference there unavailable to the vast majority of people. I read quite a lot of reviews which all gave the thumbs up to the line, and so far I've found the media controls excellent...though a bit unnecessary, still cool though! For 599 euro, you definitely wouldn't find a laptop of this caliber anywhere else....in particular, hardware like dedicated video cards usually dramatically increase the price, especially when they move beyond low end to mid-range.

just out of interest...where can you buy wholesale PCs or Laptops? Does anywhere in Ireland do wholesale PC parts?

I picked up the 6930 a few months ago for 620 on pixmania. Only 256mb graphics but has a blu-ray drive. Absolutely love it. This mightnt be a bargain but this range are decent laptops!

This is still definitely a bargain - where else can you get a laptop of this feature set for 599 retail, especially in a retail store? Especially taking into account that it has the 512MB 9600GS.
