Is there any big difference between 2 D light fittings which take the '2 Pin bulb' or the '4 Pin bulb' type?

Thanks in advance for any replies

The 4-pin variety use an external starter (which may be the same as those used in the long tubes or it may be part of the lamps control gear), and the 2-pin have a built in one.

You need to get the correct lamp for the fitting as they are not interchangable.

the 2-pin lamp w/internal starter works with conventional ballast .the 4-pin works with conventional or electronic control gear and has options for emergency and dimming.

short on-periods apparently shorten life dramatically but i've used plenty anyhow regardless
