Hi - I just got engaged, which is great. I have to organise my wedding and pay for 100 per cent of it and my honeymoon and my fiance has just lost his job.

We have worked all over the world and we have friends and family coming from all over the world - about 250 of them. I can hold the reception in my parent's back garden but I am hoping someone can offer some advice as to how to save money and throw a whopper of a party as I don't know where I am going to get €30k - I have existing loans....

Also...I'm not looking for something chic and blacktie!!! I don't care to marry in a church....I just want to throw a great party that everyone will remember....

    all suggestions would be great.....

Look at a realistic budget first of all, why do you have to spend €30000, spend what you have and no more. Wedding Dress Suit and suit buy in the sales.
    Hire 2 additional portaloos
Talk to a catering company about cost of a buffet, €22 a head is €550, music by dj, ask friends for a loan of garden furniture and buy cheap matching table cloths or sheets to put over them, decorate with hiball glasses, filled with coloured pebbles (buy one big bag from hardware type shop) stick a couple of flowers in and there you are.
Cars you willl probably have friends who drive nice cars use theirs
Bridesmaids, keep to a minimum and buy in the sales, buy a colour that will go with black sandals and tell them to wear their own.
Invites, especially if they are coming from all over the world, e-mail most of them, and handmake the others, as well as your place settings and order of service stuff.
Hire a gazebo with a wooden floor, or is your parents house big enough if it rains? Shop around for flowers and take those in season, or ones where one big stem says it all.
Make up, get a free lesson in BT.
Hair, chose a simple style that you can either do yourself of with the help of your bridesmaid.
The things people remember from a wedding are how happy the couple are, if the food was edible and there was enough drink.
Oh on drink, if you have a mate and you can get from the wholesalers do, otherwise, a decent off license and make a deal.
Stop stressing out, just do what you can afford no-one expects more :-)

Have a look at the money saving wedding thread, it has some great ideas on keeping down costs. work within your budget, everyone knows how tough things are money wise. a marque wit candles and rose petals ( great value on ebay) eveywhere looks fantastic. its the decorations that can really make a diffence. candles are a cheap way but very effective. have a buffet, that ll keep costs down and invite all the people you want there.good music and plenty of wine! it will be a brillant day regardless of where ye are.
