    16.07.2009
A new pricing package from Vodafone At Home for landline and fixed broadband directly challenges Eircom’s equivalent bundle with a promised minimum saving of 20pc.

The Vodafone At Home package includes connection, line rental and broadband speeds of up to 7Mbps, as well as local and national landline calls and free calls to Vodafone numbers, and the operator has asked Eircom customers to bring their latest bill to a Vodafone shop to compare the price difference.

“This move underpins Vodafone’s commitment to bringing great value coupled with best-in-class customer experience to the Irish fixed market,” said Vodafone CEO Charles Butterworth (pictured).

“We are saying to customers that their Vodafone at Home landline and fixed broadband package will be at a minimum 20pc less than Eircom’s equivalent. This is not a summer promotion or something short-term, we are in this for the long-haul.”

This deal is also offering existing Vodafone customers an extra 10pc saving if they switch over and sign up anytime between now and the end of July.

    Why bother?

For the same reason Vodafone bought Perlico for €85M in the first place, even though it was loss making (€17M previous year).

Aquire customers, reduce customer base of other fixed ISPs and offer bundles with Mobile phone. Get people to use Vodafone Mobile Phone in the long term.

Build customer base. Same as the probably below cost Mobile Data.
