Hi there,
There is an issue with role permissions that is being worked on at the moment.
If you are having trouble with access or permissions on regional forums please post here to get access: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058365403/you-do-not-have-permission-for-that#latest

So you want to test how to use boards, eh?

have a look on This forum. You can start new threads, reply, check fonts to your hearts content.

All the cool stuff you see in posts are the result of tags. Tags are enclosed in square brackets [] and there is a start and end tag. The end tag has a forward-slash in front of it /

so, to make text bold, you use the b tag. It looks like this (without spaces)
    [ b ] BOLD TEXT [ / b ]

I have to use spaces to show you the tags, because without then, that text would be displayed like this:
    BOLD TEXT

If you want to "Quote" someone, you use the [ quote ] [ / quote ] tags.
it makes the text look like this
and makes your posts easier to read, if you are replying to a point. You can easily see what points you are replying to, and differentiate between the original post (the OP) and yours.

so use the test forum, type in random stuff, and then enclose it it the tags (without spaces). You'll get a feel for it and then have a go at more advanced tagging, like youtube links and pictures.

    TBH

Might it be an idea to list the tags that can be used for the newbies?

    it certainly might DG!

Here are the tags I know of, anyway, and their effects. These are all available in the editor, by the way, the buttons along the top that you see when you are writing your post.

[ B ] [ /B ] Bold tags. Text between the tags will be bold text: example

[ I ] [ /I ] Italics. Text between the tags will be in italics: example

[ U ] [ /U ] Underline. Text between the tags will be underlined: example

[ S ] [ /S ] Strikethrough. Text between the tags will have a line through the middle of it. You use this to ‘cancel’ text, usually as a joke:
I’m loving the Celtic Tiger! Could anyone lend me ten euro?

[ LEFT ] [ /LEFT ] Left Justify. Text between the tags will be aligned on the left
    example
[ CENTER ] [ /CENTER ] Center Justify. Text between the tags will be in the middle of the post.
    example
[ Right ] [ /Right] Right Justify. Text between the tags will be on the right of the post.
    example

[ URL="link " ] [ /URL ] URL Tag. Text between the tags will be a clickable link as specified between the quotes: Click
[ EMAIL="email address"] [ /EMAIL ] Email tag. Text between the tags will be a clickable link. In this case, clicking the link will usually cause your email client to create a new mail to the address specified: not a real email address

I have to run now, so I’ll leave the rest listed below as the mystery tags. You can play around with them in the test forum, if I don’t get back to do them, I’m sure someone else will 

    [ IMG ] [ /IMG ]
    [ QUOTE ][ /QUOTE ]
    [ YOUTUBE ] [ /YOUTUBE ]
    [ SPOILER ] [ /SPOILER ]

You can use the [noparse][noparse][/noparse][/noparse] tags to display tags with out the text being converted.

    Example:
    Hi there & welcome

    Entered as

    [noparse][noparse]
    Hi there & welcome
    [/noparse][/noparse]

    becomes..

    [noparse]
    Hi there & welcome
    [/noparse]
