Its only a year old, so its under warranty. Get it into a Ford Dealer ASAP, or contact Ford assist. The number for them should be in the handbook, or on a sticker on the windscreen.

its under warranty, so as long as he hasn't voided the warranty, Ford should stand over it..

Ask Ford Ireland for a warranty contribution, all they can do is say no.

It is an issue with the engines.

I have seen them die at early mileage. Get on to them, they should give you partial warranty at least

    What about service history?
or has the van being on the road for over two years now, covered 22,000 kms and never being serviced?

Ford I assume since they have given you a price, they have inspected it? did they give a reason for what happened to the engine?

But why has the engine died. Is the sump damaged, did it run out of oil, hole in the rad ?

I am led to believe there is an internal issue with theses engines.

There was one in the garage recently that just took on a knock all of a sudden.

possibly, don't they have 20,000km service intervals?

the rad or sump has never been damaged or anything like that it has doen little work 22000k in 2 and a bit years ford have it in the garage they towed it away dont think there a 100% sure what happened but yet the came up with aprice of 1500€ the van has not ben serviced he said he was waiting on the service light to come up on the dash.does anyone know what the millage between each service on the transit shoul the light be on or just about to come on?in my golf the book say service is due when light comes on the dash so I dont know, first service is due at 24k so any clause ther?

I've been working a ford garage for nearly 2 years and have only seen 1 engine been replaced. They are very reliable. You have to get it serviced every 20000km or 1 year which ever comes first. Even if the mileage is low the oil can deteriorate over time and loss its lubrication properties thus the reason for one year.

A 2 Y/O taxi transit came in to us with 150,000km's+ and only 2 services, he had to get a new engine.... Moral of the story just get it serviced regularly by a main or an indy which ever suits you.
