I had problems with my computer so i had to use the a XP recovery disk to wipe everything off the computer and start from scratch...

This worked but now i have no internet, There is no " local connection" in teh network connections.
I have eirocm plug and play modem but the computer doesnt have a local connection (lan).

Does anyone know how to fix this and save me $$$.

    Thank you

Sounds like your just missing the drives for your network card..have you a driver disk for it or a disk with all the drivers that came with the disk as standard?

whats the make and model number of the motherboard? or the model number of the pc. it dose just sound like a missing or incorrect driver.

    Thanks

    Its a Dell dimension 5150 pentium 4

I have what appears to be the Xp recovery disk and i also have what appears to
be the dell monitor recovery disk it has some drivers mentioned on it.

There doesnt seem to be an option to install anything form the recovery disk.Is there maybe something online that i could get and copy to disk etc.. or even purchase

go to the dell web site and get the drivers for your system if you dont have the disc.

    Go here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/

Stick in your service tag from the sticker on the top or side of your CPU and then look for the network drivers

    Click on

    Start

    Right click on "My Computer"

    Choose "Manage"

Click on "Device Manager" in the left hand pane.

You should now see all your devices on the right hand side.

Any of them with a driver missing should show yellow/exclamation mark

There is a good chance that after the install you are missing more than just the Network driver.

See what needs fixing & as mentioned above, go to the Dell site & get the drivers you need.

Thankfully because of all the help i have managed to get it up and working and installed all of the missing drivers right off the recovery disk. It lists the ones required and i simply extract the file and it uploads to the computer.

It runs 200 times faster than it did before ran the recovery disk.
