Jailbreak Question

I read somewhere that after a jailbreak, as long as I have an itunes account, I will still have access to all apps in the app store, can anyone confirm this?

If I jailbreak my ipod touch, will I still have access to Mail, Youtube, App Store and Map apps(etc)?
They are not in the App Store as far as I know.
Do I need to back them up? How do I do this?

Running 3.0 firmware at the moment.
    Thanks

You'll still have access to all those things, Jailbreaking doesn't wipe any of the native apps off of the device. You should do a sync and back up your music and movies before jailbreaking though, it will restore your device with a modified OS 3.0 which will erase your content.
You'll also still have access to the app store, of course.

When I did the Jailbreak both on 2.2.1 and 3.0 firmware the Jailbreak itself didn't erase any content. It was the upgrading of the firmware that did that for me.

And yes, you retain all the features that come with the iPod. The Jailbreak just opens the OS to allow installation of 3rd party apps/games etc
