Problems problems problems. Better weather just lately done quite a lot of cycling. I am a cheapskate I have one pair of assos cycling shorts. The rest of my shorts are a mixture of aldi and altura and that's about it.My assos shorts are getting more than a bit worn.I figure I need two new pairs, money is a little tight. And I think I have spent enough on bicycle equipment.Does anyone have any experience with gore or endura shorts.I am looking for some hard wearing and comfortable bib shorts. If they are more affordable so much the better.

I have a bit of Gore stuff. The bib tights I have are brilliant, haven't seen them too cheap anywhere though.

Ah, those cheapskate Assos wearers :).

Pearl Izumi, Gore and Sugoi all make nice shorts. Also Carvahlo Custom (who I believe make the Boards gear) make really comfortable bib shorts too.

Endura are good for the money.

I have found the boards bib shorts very uncomfortable for anything more than 40kms. I currently have endura, bicycle line and these Giordana Silverline Bib Shorts which are the most comfortable shorts of all i 've tried. I recently bought Assos as well, but i haven't yet gone for a proper spin to compare them. But for the price the Giordana are great.

I find after 3hrs+ in the saddle it doesnt really matter what your wearing, its just a matter of toughening the posterior bones a little.

I have a pair of well padded zoot which cost €110, and a €60 pair of bicycle line. After a few of hours on the bike my ass still hurts with both. The zoot are a little more comfy for teh first couple hours but nothing major.

@Astra - what's the sizing on the Giordana shorts like? Is it typically Italian i.e. bloody tiny?

I would have to concur with Astra Monti, I do not find the Boards shorts great over long distance (I did the Wicklow 200 in them last year.) I generally love Descente stuff but am not sure about the blue shorts Wiggle have on offer this week- I got the 3/4 tights and they are made in the US rather than Canada or Mexico where all my other Descente stuff came from. They seem well made certainly but the sizing seems very different from my other Descente stuff, very loose at the waist and around the crotch.

a long day in the saddle can hurt alright but a good pair of shorts can be the difference between being able to get on the bike the next day or not, so it's still worth getting a good pair.

Well it's really just that the sizing seems so different that put me out! Do you have other Descente stuff? I have 3 other pairs of bibs and 3 other pairs of tights and they all fit me perfectly, I thought I was on to a good thing there!

nah havent worn any descente stuff for about 20 years (the last pair were dayglo pink.... nice) longer in the leg than my endura's as well

MEDIUM? wow, I would have thought you're at least 6 inches too tall for an Italian medium. That's probably the size I'd go for then, or maybe large as I think I'm a bit chunkier around the middle... anyway, I'm just looking to the future - I'm not shopping at the moment. Thanks though. :)
