Spend a bit more and get a cheap hybrid. From Halfords the Carrera Subway could be a good bet.

    Approximate Weight (KG): 14.3Kg

CRC are having some good sale on city bikes atm... you might want to have a look at it.

14.3Kg is not crazy out of the ballpark for a city bike to be honest, you can get lighter but you can get heavier also.

Cheers, I saw CRCs ones the other day, seemed to be a lot off. She is getting it on the bike scheme working in a bank and has a list of shops she can buy from, has LOADS listed, but only ones in the republic as expected.

But with differeing RRPs, and better offers & savings it still might be cheaper to get one from CRC.

Also I saw a quote from a shop given to a guy from the bank who went into a shop near me. Bike was a dawes 201, €385 which I thought was a bit much, but then had all the extras the lad said "you will need", and it was over €650 by then. Loads of bits & bobs well overpriced, seems they are preying on peoples ignorance and really milking this bike scheme thing.

If your only starting out, e300 isnt much for good gear thats going to last.

Off the top of my head, decent locks start at e50, lights around e40, Mudguards are around the 15 mark(although some are migty expensive), good rain gear add another e60, then a pump add 20, panniers another e40 then a luggage rack another e40 and a helmet is around e40.

so thats....e305, and thats just the basics.:)

Then add on at least e300 for a decent bike,

IMO 650 is the minimum if you want to get it right.

Not much if you look at cycle2work like a credit card, exept your saving either 21.5% or 42%
