sync contacts

    i recently had to resotre my ipod so lost all my contacts etc, is there an easy way to sync them from a laptop because i dont think i want to input them all manually again.

    Yes, you can just sync through iTunes... for iPods, the setting you're looking for is under the 'Contacts' tab of your devices menu, for iPod Touch's, I believe it might be under the 'Info' tab.

    Set up a google account, stick em in there as contacts. Info->Contacts->Sync with gmail

    That way you can keep all your contacts backed up and up to date (every time you sync google is updated) should the issue arrise again.

    when you connect your phone to itunes it should ask you to merge contacts with the iphone and the contacts app.

    This is exactly what I do as well as my calendar. It's an excellent feature and much easier to maintain as it updates in real time.

    Google Calendar does it. You just need to follow the instructions for it- you've to set it up as a Microsoft Exchange account.
