my gf recently went back on the pill(2 weeks ago) and since then we've had sex once, as best as i can work out it was 7 days ago. she has been complaining of stomach pains since which has me very worried. another reason why im worried is that when i was with my last gf she told me she had to be on the pill for a month before it started working and this gf says it works straight away. im at my wit end with worry and my gf wont talk about it, if i mention it she just says its grand, stop worrying but im not sure. can anyone shed any light on this please for me.

If she has been having stomach pains for a week she really needs to go see her GP mate.

its not really stomach pains all week, only last 2 days and she thinks its maybe something she ate and she gave blood the other day too. says thats what it is, maybe im just paranoid but its just that and the pill issue has me in tatters with nerves ya know

If she has been on the pill for two weeks. Normally when you start on it you start of day 1 of your period.

If its the 21 day pill on your first month you start on day 1 of your period and continue taking all 21 pills and then break for 7 days (you get a chemical period) and then start again.

You are covered straight away with this method as the hormones replicate pregnancy and the body does not ovulate (produce an egg) Ovulation generally happens around day 14 anyway without the pill, so even if she was not on the pill chances of her getting pregnant on day 7 are not high. BUT she is on the pill so I would not worry.

Also IF she was by some fluke to get pregnant, the fertilised egg does not implant for around 10 days so it is not connected to the Mothers bloodstream till that point and there will be no HGR (pregnancy hormone) detectable in the bloodstream and therefore no symtoms until implantaion occurs.

So the stomach pains are not likely to be related to the sex.

Discuss it with your girlfriend and if you still have concerns maybe the two of ye go along to the GP together so you can understand it all better.

Given the hot(!) weather, is she dehydrated?

If the problem persists, have her go to the doctor.

Depending on when in her cycle she started the pill, she shouldn't be pregnant. Get her to go to the doctor anyway, she shouldn't just ignore stomach pains.
